Shopping in VeniceShopping in VeniceShopping in Venice

Dana snapped this photo as evidence of my shopping in Venice. I loved all the jewelley at these market shops, I couldn't help but buy heaps!
After Rome we drove to Venice, the city of water, it was beatutiful. We had 2 nights there staying at in cabins at a camp site. After Rome we were hopeful that the weather might be a bit cooler but it wasn't, still hot! The camp site was on the water so the first afternoon we got there Dana and I took a beer and some cheese and crackers down to the water. Our tour guide had warned us previously about not swimming in the water because big cruise liners came past the camp site. She wasn't lying, as we sat there 3 big ships came past. We had fun waving at all the passengers (and booing those that ignored our enthusiastic waves). That night was dinner at the camp site followed by an attitude adjustment, yep and I wasn't the only one that took an attitude adjustment :-) They're a drink that they make in Venice, it has about 5 white spirits topped up with a bottle drink (something similar to barcardi breezers). As you can imagine, you don't need many. I stuck to 1 that night, as we had a big day in Venice the next day to look
Gondala ride in VeniceGondala ride in VeniceGondala ride in Venice

We sipped champagne while cruising through the canals in Venice on a gondala. Our driver was a real character, and he definately had a thing for the ladies!
forward to.

The next day we caught a boat taxi into the city of Venice. First stop was a glass blowing demonstration, I had seen something similar before but it was still amazing to watch. Then the next stop was a lace demonstration, which I accidently missed because I took the rare opportunity to hop on a phone to Australia (nothing exciting unfortunately, bank issues, all sorted now), then we shopped! The girls quite cruely stated at the end of the day that Venice was now out of business because I had shopped it out. I just bought a few essential pieces of jewellery, I couldn't help, I loved them all! So between my jewellery shopping in Bangkok, and now Venice I'm stocked up for life! (well maybe not life...maybe just a year or two until the next trip).

We ended the day with with a gondala ride through the canals of venice, sipping champagne and singing songs. It was great fun! Our driver was a bit crazy, but heaps of fun, he played up to our silly behaviour, he serenaded us, kissed all the girls, pretended to topple the gondala over, great fun!

That night was party time at the camping grounds, so there were more attitude adjusters to be drunk! It was a great night, lots of dancing (on the tables at one stage).

The next day we left and drove to Austria.

What about St Mark's??
Did you get to see St Mark's at night - it was the most impression thing we saw when we went to Venice. Did you have time to get lost in the streets with multiple signs pointing in different directions??

World Jewellery Shortage!
I think there's going to be a world jewellery shortage by the time Fi gets back to Oz! The Bangkok stores are still busily trying to stock up for your return Fi! :o)
