Caleb on a bridge down some random little street by a random little canal on one of the many occasions when we were lost. :) We arrived in Venice at 9.30pm and got lost with our suitcases before eventually finding the hotel.
Wednesday we went wandering the streets. We went for a walk to Piazetta San Marco and saw the Basilica di San Marco (and then on Thursday we went back to go up the campanile Bell Tower for an aerial view of Venice). It is quite neat walking along the streets - there are no cars, just these crazy little streets with high buildings on either side and lots of little shops. The map didn’t make much sense and we got lost every single day we were here.
At night when we went for dinner just off the Grand Canal these pushy Italian people at restaurants keep pushing themselves upon us. We were bullied into sitting down at one place, then decided we didn’t really like the menu, so we had to wait for the waiter to face the other way and then we scurried away from our table. Then at the next place, while we were just looking at a menu on a wall, this waiter guy thrust a glass of wine onto Caleb, and we had to wait till he wasn’t

Caleb outside the Basilica di San Marco (St Mark's Basilica) looking and scurry away yet again. We then took backstreets etc. to avoid going past the same places again.
Thursday morning we went up the Bell Tower, then went over to Murano, this island where they blow glass. We watched a demonstration then wandered around the island, which is composed mostly of glass shops, looking for something neat that wasn’t overpriced!
In the afternoon we went on a Gondola ride! It was pretty expensive (not going to tell you how much!) but it was pretty neat to see all the little canals etc.
Off to Rome early Friday.
