The theme of the chocolate festival
this was the main picture for the chocolate festival A last minute trip was to Perugia. We just took the train from Florence, it was about 2 hours or so, not too bad. It was a very pretty train ride too so it went by fast. Once we got there, we had to follow a tour group because we had to take a bus and there were about 5 different routes that they were going so we just tagged along. After we got off the bus, it was quite a walk to the actual festival. The festival only lasts 2 weeks and we went the last week. Perugia is where the Baci chocolate is made. They put chocolate on everything at this festival though. As soon as we walked into the festival, we got to taste chocolate pasta...it was not good. They have these cards that are 5 euro that people recommend getting, but it is a waste of money. They say you get free samples from a lot of the chocolate stands, but you just get really weird stuff and it wasn't chocolate most of the time.
It was really really cold the day we went so we got hot chocolate, but it was more syrup than hot chocolate.
I didn't have any but the people I went with did. They had all of these chocolate stands with different European brands of chocolate in every single flavor imaginable. I had this huge brownie with orange marmalade in between it, it was the most amazing I've ever tasted. I also had a grilled tortilla with Nutella on it which was just ok, a lot of Nutella. They also had a chocolate stand for dogs but i didn't trust that so I just took a picture. They had people playing ping pong with these pans that had the bottom's painted different designs. They also had craft stands with the typical festival stuff.
We spent about 2 hours in a coffee place just to warm up and then we went home. It was a very cold and long day but completely worth it.
