Sorry I haven't updated in a while...oops its been almost a month. ANYWAY, Italy has been absolutely amazing obviously. Michelle here, Just making a blog to write about my adventures during my semester abroad in Italy. I'm 20 years old from Southern California. This is my first time traveling to Europe, and it should be one hell of a time. I will be staying in Parma, IT with a host-family for the most of my trip but will be taking study trips to Venice, Florence, and Rome...as well as other parts of Italy that are up for argumentation. After climbing again to another high point in the city, I was able to take this photo. The climb wasnt as extreme as the Duomo but it offered a different view.

Basilica of San Miniato al Monte

This was a real treat to see. Resting at the top of the Piazzale Michelangelo was this amazing Basilica... the oldest christian church in florence, dating back to 783 AD. WHOA

Faceless Jesus

Inside the Basilica.. I thought this piece was really interesting. The rest of the decoration was intact which made me wonder if the face of Jesus was missing for a reason

The entire thing was painted, and the entire floor was in marble... but the floor consisted of rows and rows of tombs. Though it is illegal now, it used to be considered standard to be buried actually IN a church, as opposed to in a Cemetery.

This room was amazing. blew me away literally. The second we all walked in our words were kind of taken out of our mouths. It was completely painted like this and totally gorgeous. The room was a lot darker than it looks in this picture but, my camera is impeccable.

Tomb of Galileo Galilei

This was really mindblowing. Inside Santa Croce church lies the bodies of so many famous people I couldnt believe it. This church has become somewhat of a Pantheon for famous dead people
