Verona
Gates to the old city of Verona Dolomites Trek, Northern Italy: 27 June – 6 July 2014 Robbo arranged our travel / transfer arrangements from Chamonix, France (where we ended the Tour Mont Blanc hike) to Italy via Verona on route to the Dolomites region (no fewer than 12 connections required in one day – buses, trains).
We arrived safe and sound and enjoyed an amazing evening in beautiful Verona, it was magic full of music, opera, theatre and cafes and bars. This trip was unique in that we stayed in three (3) locations for 2 nights which meant we could day hikes or out/back / circuit trips rather than point-to-point. TO NOTE: This trip we did not arrange baggage transfers so we carried all our gear!!!!. The scenery was very beautiful with the Dolomites declared a
UNESCO World Heritage Site in August 2009. A tourist mecca, the Dolomites are famous for
skiing in the winter months and
mountain climbing, hiking, cycling, and
BASE jumping, as well as paragliding and hang gliding in summer and late spring/early autumn.
We would love to come back to the Dolomites as there is so much hiking to enjoy in their beautiful part of the world.
Our overnight accommodation / village
locations visited on this trip included:
- Verona
- Prato Piazza / Platzwiese (2 nights)
- Sennes (2 nights)
- Fanes (2 nights)
- San Vigilio
We then stayed in Milano – 3 night stay before flying home to Sydney.
