evening all,

right, last entry from palermo, and thought i might as well take advantage of the free net access for the last time as 2mo we head for the deep south of italy, mazara del vallo, and we are staying on a campsite, so im pretty sure they wont have net access there!
2day we had another ace day, the weather was amazing again, and i was in my shorts, and kerry, looking like a true brit abroad with my milky white legs out. after going to the station to get our coach tickets for our journey 2mo morning, we hit yet another market, and as much as i enjoyed it, it wasnt as big and varied as the other swe have seen, but the street food was just as good if not better. i was gutted tho, as while we had a lovely lunch of grill med veg, i wanted to try another bit of street food, which was obviously very popular with the locals. basically, it was freshly caught octopus, still wriggling, and the vendor just grabbed one out of the bucket, cut it up in front of you, and slapped it on a plate in front of u with half a lemon and some salt. i was well up for it, as i always want to try local grub, but kerry was less than impressed with the idea, and i dont think i could have eaten a whole octopus by myself! ah well, something for another day when kerry is feeling more adventurous! after lunch in the market, we got the bus to mondello, which is the coastal town closest to palermo. it was beautiful, very picturesque, and we had a nice lazy afternoon on the beach. it was a place that rick had recommended, and it was lovely to see the bay full of old fishing boats, the old guys fixing there nets in the harbour, surrounded by the beach and the mountains. back at the hostel by about 6ish, the young couple who run the place kindly invited us to eat with them tonight, so giusepe is cooking ragu, and we've brought the wine (3 bottles from the local asda), so should be a good night! sadly, no liverpool vs chelsea champs semi final on the tele, but im sure il survive. sadly, as i have just tried, this comp wont let us put pics on the blog, so i rec ul have to wait til we get back, sorry paula. to answer ur question, id say the only thing i miss is the people. not english people in general (those yorkshire folk certainly are friendly tho eh?!), just u lot. i miss leeds united, something im a bit ashamed of, but its inbuilt. about 3 days i walked past a street stall selling some kind of meat, and i had a sudden craving for a good bacon sandwich, with lashings of tommy sauce, but that lasted for only about 5 mins. kerry says she misses having her own bathroom ,and all her clinique products, which is almost as sad as me missing a shit football team! so basically, i need to get ken bates to move elland road to palermo, and i wouldnt come back! right, the wine needs opening, and the huntsman is out, so id better be off. if we come across a comp in the next 5 days we'll write sumut on here, but if not, see u in catania! Ciao for now! lots of love, Alessandro and Kerry (there is no italian version, we checked!) xxx
