Lake Como
One of the towns we passed on the way to Bellagio So we are on the train to Venice now. I'll post this whenever I get internet again but it is Monday at 11 AM or so as I write. We are getting to Venice around noon and just spending today, tonight, and early tomorrow there. As beautiful as I'm sure it will be, it is pretty expensive and there isn't really all that much to see other than the St. Mark's Basillica/square, and maybe the Rialto area.
We are taking the Vaporetto (basically boat buses) to our hotel near St. Mark's first thing when we get there to drop our things off and then we will just explore.
We did end up going to Lake Como yesterday and I'm really glad. Saturday evening we had spent the whole day in Milan and we both kindof realized that we had seen it all and we weren't sure what we were going to do all day yesterday. We enjoyed it but 1 day ended up being enough time to see all the stuff that we wanted to.
We decided to take the train north to the lakes since we have extra rail days. We took a boat ride to Bellagio, which
Lake Como
Another town unbeknownst to be isn't just a hotel in Vegas. The boat we took out there was a slow paddle steamer like the one in Luzern so it took 2 hours to get there.
The scenery was pretty awesome though so was that was fine with us. We stopped at all of the little towns along the way and it really is pretty incredible. They are just stuck in the sides of mountains. When we finally got to Bellagio we only had about an hour and a half before we had to catch the boat back.
That was perfect, though, because it is just a resort town without much to do and the boat ride was the real entertainment. We found a nice restuarant on a little ally with steps up from the lake.
I finally got the genuine italian lasagna that I have been craving for months and it was PERFECT. We took the faster boat back to the train station since we had already seen all of the sights and we had to catch our train back to Milan. They were setting up for a powerboat race on the lake but unfortunately we didn't have time to wait for

Pulling away from one of the ferry stops, I think it's an abandoned factory or something, I just thought the ivy looked cool on the smokestack it.
There was an AC Milan soccer game in the evening and we had heard from a couple of sources that you can get tickets if you just show up to the stadium 2 hours in advance so we figured we would give it a try. Sure enough, they had plenty of tickets since it wasn't a big match and we got good seats for 19 euro.
The stadium is big (almost 90,000) and even though there were only 25-30,000 people or so (I'm guessing) It was still really loud. I can't imagine what it would be like filled up. The stadium is pretty gross, it definitely isn't kept up like the ones in America and Veronika was a little startled when she found out that "Men's" and "Women's" bathrooms apparently are just a suggestion and not a requirement in Italy. The fans are out of control, luckily we were a safe distance from them and just got to watch, hahah.
I can't believe how much these people smoke though. The whole stadium was hazy even though it is semi-outdoors. It seems like EVERYONE smokes and by the end of it we were both feeling a little sick. The

Mountains EVERYWHERE! fans even lit some sort of firework thing a couple of times, too which just filled the place wiith even more smoke. I put a picture of that in here.
The match was a draw, nobody won. AC Milan is supposedly one of the best teams in Europe so apparently the other team was pretty good too. I have never heard of them, though. I've decided that when you get to that level, the defense and goal keepers are so good, it gets really, really hard to score. It was fun and I'm glad we went but I still think American Football is a better sport to watch (I seriously think my life would be in danger if I told some of those fans that, though).
We are really looking forward to everything we have left to see in Italy and so far it has lived up to all expectations!
