VERNAZZA
Really is just postcard perfect! Have wanted to visit this area ever since I knew Italy existed, it is so beautiful! Decided to do the whole Cinque Terra thing by train, as just too hard to park car etc, so up early and on the train direct to Monterosso which was handy as that is where we wanted to do our hike from - Monterosso to Vernazza - the scenery was amazing along the trail and some cute Italians were out selling their fresh berries and lemon and orange juices freshly squeezed. Lots of steps and quite steep at times, there were spots where you had to find a spot to step aside to let people get past you but all in all it was a great hike, very hot and sweaty by the end though and went through our litre of water! The guides say it takes 2 hours, but we easily did it in 1 1/2 hrs. So looking forward to lunch in a nice breezy spot - just what the doctor ordered - a nice cold beer and a spicy pizza! Decided to get one of the ferries to Riomaggiore, just to get the view from the water as the trains go through
VERNAZZA
Our lunch spot in the breeze! a lot of tunnels and you just get glimpses of the sea as you go by. The trail was closed between Corniglia and Riomaggiore so we picked the right one to do! All the villages are different and it was great to see some from the sea as well. Great day had by all!
