Walked the Cinque Terre yesterday! Well, not quite all of it. The stretch between Riomaggiore and Manarola was closed due to a slip which was a pity. However we trained this part and walked to Vernazza. Only one of our group continued walking to Monterosso al Mare and it certainly wasn't me or Ad. It was just too hot (35 degrees) with little shade. We were very pleased for having done as much of it as we did. The collection of pastel shaded houses clinging to the hill sides was very pretty and we thoroughly enjoyed this day.

We have just returned from today's walk. Four hours from Santa Margherita to Porto Fino - once again over hills but at least it is cooler today. This area is fabulous. Cruise ships ferrying people in to and out of Porto Fino and the shops all geared to take the money off the visitors - prices 2x those elsewhere. We could chose whether to walk back to S. Margherita, bus or boat. We chose the latter and were pleased we did so - it was great to see the villages from the sea.

Just catching our breath now and will then head out to window shop and explore Santa Margherita.

Doing the other side of the Portofino Peninsula tomorrow. Train ride to Camogli, another 'short scenic walk' (yeah right!) to various little spots and a picnic on the way. Only 3 hours walking so a relatively easy day. We have a group dinner in the evening as this is the last day of our Magical Tuscany and Liguira trip. We head off on Sunday morning for Nice where we will meet up with Annie and Richard. (I should say I 'hopefully' meet up with Annie and Rich'. We have three changes of trains to make on our own!!!!

Joce -
I doubt we will make the Monaco Grand Prix but we intend getting close enough to hear and smell the excitement.

Love to all from us both.

Green with envy!
Lizzie it all sounds so wonderful - I admit to tinge of jealousy. Hope you get to meet up with Annie and Richard - I have no doubt as to your ability. (make sure you take a photo of the ring and send it to me!) We had a lovely night with Pete & the Kyles - it just wasnt the same without my friend so you are not allowed to die!! I headed off to bed at about 0200 the boys sat up drinking rumbos until about 3.30 putting the world to right. Pete arrived out this morning having trouble with his tele - he was using the phone to try & change channels. We shifted to the remote with still no luck to find we were then trying to run the TV with the DVD remote! At that stage all effort was aborted. He headed home to do jobs and to enlist the help of Ange or Sarah to fold sheets. "you just cant fold sheets on your own" plus - (unless he can con the girls to do his ironing as well) a date with the ironing board .I think he is missing you !!! All good here although DBK is digging more f.....g holes as he thinks a pipe just by the chook house has burst as there is a lot of water lying around. We have a beautiful new drive so lets hope the pipe is on the grass side of the drive. Imagine if we have to dig it up. That would be so unfair so fingers crossed. Keep safe and lots of love to you both. Daley xxx
