Driving from La Spezia to Genova was incredible! Firstly another trip into the mountains to places like Fuglia then down into the coastal towns frequented by the movie stars! Oh my. The trip to Portofino passed villas and amazing places we could only imagine. There were not many opportunities to stop and take photos: very sadly. However any trip to Italy should include Santa Margherita, Pedale, Portofino and this whole coastline.

We reached Genova and good old tommy led us successfully to the parking depot. We had managed to brave the traffic of Genova to park the car and forget about it for a couple of days: expensive but at least we don't have to worry about its security. Our host met us in the Basilica Anunziata: another stunning church. They all have masterpiece on the walls and incredible marble statues. We will go out for a meal tonight to celebrate actually safely arriving here! Chaio!

Next day:

It is raining!! Wandering around the amazing sights of Genova we have become absolutely soaked. Just visualise us trying to read the city map in the pouring rain with both of us wearing fogged up glasses! Hilarious! However we managed

to find our apartment amongst the many winding city alleys- all of which look the same!

There are palaces and churches galore here with beautiful frescos on ceilings and walls, marble staircases and yes wait for it: amazing doors!!

Our host here is a type of music critic and freelance journalist who has restored an ancient Genovean building. He has many amazing stories to tell and is wonderful to talk to, plus the most gracious host! He even made scrambled eggs for breakfast! We are loving it here and had a fabulous meal last night: at our host, Ivo's recommendation. The photos will speak for them self. Only a few more days left in Italy now and we have seen so much: such a lovely country.
