Circus Maximus.

The white dot is what Rome began as - just a city.

Eventually Rome was all of this. Pretty impressive, eh?

The Mamertine Prison - St. Peter was chained to this column.

How nice!!! They had a free toilet in the Mamertine Prison!

Apparently, St. Peter's face was shoved against this spot as he was being dragged down into the prison. Supposedly, his likeness has been imprinted on the wall. I can't see it.

Rome was supposedly founded by two twins, Romulus and Remus, who were raised by a she-wolf. Here, they are suckling on her. Yech. I am sure there is some strange fetish group out there that would find this attractive! I could never imagine suckling on a wolf's teat ... unless they dispensed gelato!!!

I think this was yet another protest against the war in the Middle East.

The police were ready with the riot gear. It's sad that such measures are necessary ... but the saddest part? They were the only thing that stood between me and a gelato stand! I had no choice and made a run for it. 2 broken ribs, a broken nose, and a black eye. It was all worth it to sample some more sweet, sweet, gelato.
