(Wednesday March 3) This magnificent fountain is located about 2 blocks from our hotel room. Yes, you may think we were in Las Vegas but this is in Rome.

The water in the fountain was supplied by the underground aqueduct called Aqua Virgo that used to supply water to ancient Rome.

There is a tradition that if you throw a coin into the fountain you are ensured a safe return to Rome - so of course we had to throw a couple of pennies in.
