Inside the Colosseum
I’m going to start this trip off the correct way, not sleeping.
“Hi, we have a reservation”
“No, you don’t”
“Tu madre tiene un bigote”
So, the girls got the room that was available and the boys took to the streets. Luckily one of the hostels allowed us to store our bags there, because our reservation was good for the next night. Our original thought was to sleep at the train station Termini, but the doors were locked and the bums were out in full force. Plus the area smelt like urine. Ok, so we’ll just continue to walk around the city. We wasted some time with some hammered American sailors in the streets, but quickly moved on. Next stop the Coliseum; this seemed like a safe place to sit until the sun came up. After walking through some of the ruins and watching strung out people walk by, we headed back to the hostel.
Since Easter was in full swing by this hour, we needed to get to the Vatican. Naturally Chris and I were falling asleep during the blessing, but the strange thing was Joye and Blair were also falling asleep and they put religion on a whole

new level. Personally I was waiting for the Pope to be like,
“Yo, wake up!!”
or at least a bolt of lighting from the sky. Jose was the only one that could stay conscious, so all of us cut out early. That walk out of the Vatican was the longest walk ever; people were looking at us like we were the stupidest people on the face of the earth. As we walked out there were about 10 million people trying to get in, so these people were happy we were leaving because now five other people would be allowed in. So, all in one day we angered God, the Pope, and we looked like fools leaving. At least it was lunch time and we are in Italia.
After a ten hour nap I was ready to go!! Day two started with a trip back to Vatican City to see the world’s largest cathedral, the catacombs, and climb to the top of the Basilica (where my camera battery died). After a quick stop to get my other battery from the hostel, we went back out and enjoyed the overrated Pantheon, smaller then I expected but still awesome Coliseum, The Spanish Steps,

the Trevi fountain, Castel Sant Angelo, the Arch of Constantine, and of course lots and lots of ruins. After another great dinner (small portions) we went back to the hostel and met some girls, had desert, and went to the Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps at night. As we were sitting on the steps, we obviously begun to be arrassed by men selling flowers. So, this guy decides that he wants to give flowers away for free to the two girls we were with. After he says to the only gay guy there;
“I help you out, now you help me out” (with his hand extended)
After Chris gave a short laugh, we walked away or they kind of ran away, but he was in hot pursuit. Eventually he began annoying everyone, so the girls attempted to return the flowers, but he wouldn’t allow that, so we all just walked.
“Flowers!!! Give them back!!”
So Laural returned hers, but Lisa put hers in her bag and he was still pissed that he had no flowers and no money. Therefore the angry Indian man demanded his flowers back (not very nicely) and walked off telling us obscenities.
By this time my

watch screamed nearly 2 AM, so I gladly returned to my hostel and passed out. Well I passed out until José decided to bring a train in the room (snoring).
The next day José, Chris, and our new friends Lisa and Laurel went back to the Vatican, while Bailey, Joye and I jumped a train to Sorrento.
