As you can see for yourself the weather didn't seem ideal for our usual Friday walk and we still meet to go walking. Tradition and lots of fun on Friday catching up with each other.
This week we decided to walk from San Silvestro church just above Montecompatri to Tuscolo which is situated above Frascati.

From the curch parking lot we head over the hill into grazing valley for local heards of sheep (didn't see any today) then up hill to Tuscolo. It's a good hike in the summer though you'd want to go early morning (and wear a hat) because you are totally exposed to the elements on this route with beautiful views all around. Especially like the clouds...

The walk was great, it began raining once we reached the excavations at Tuscolo so we decided to turn back sooner than we may have liked. I was real surprised to see how much of the site had been uncovered by archiologist! It's an amazing site of an acient Tuscolum city that was independent until 380 BC when it was taken over by the Romans, there is also an acient Roman road leading to the city - it also

has a nice amphitheatre.

Before the chain-link fence went up friends have told me of when they would go to Tuscolo and have picnics in the theatre which would be great to be able to do perahaps in the near future they will take the fence away ma non lo so (but I don't know)?

Once we got back to the parking lot we caravanned to Liz's place for a pot luck lunch. We had lots of yummy food and nice wine. Oh and Cynthia made an Apple Pie if only we had the ice cream to go with it!
