"What is the current political structure/government in this country/region? Who has power, and how do those in power interact with their people?"

http://www.rogerdarlington.me.uk/Italianpoliticalsystem.html#Parties

Italy was first a monarchy. In 1946, Italy decided to change that to a Democratic Republic region. They have senates and Italy chamber of deputies. They have a voting system as well. When deciding on a decision , the parties have to decide on a leader. The government has to resign if it does not get enough people to support their actions. The prime minister of Italy is Silvio Berlusconi. The leaders and the type of goverment is always changing in Italy.

In Italy their democracy is still working on actually working properly. If a new election occurs who knows what will actually occur. Since the president can ask for a new government to be formed. Everything can go down hill for the whole government of Italy very quickly. The president is elected for a term of 7 years. Making it very possible for the government to plumpish to the ground.
