The flight from SF to Toronto was smooth. We had a three hour layover in Toronto. So we headed to the bar for a couple of beers and some dinner. Our itinerary for the next flight said that we would only get breakfast on the flight, so we ate a big meal. After we boarded the plane, they said that dinner would be served in about an hour. Oh well, we were already full. We tried to sleep on the flight, but only got about an hours sleep. Its hard to sleep when your all cramped up in economy class!
We landed on time and went to get our bags. I was getting quite concerned about our luggage. They finally showed up right at the end. Thank goodness!
We called the car company and they sent a van to pick us up near the airport. We checked in and got our car. Its a 2012 Renault Megane Coupe Diesel, the sport model with the 160 hp engine. I tried to put the luggage in the trunk and could not get it to close. The guy came and helped us. He said it was important to all
of the luggage in the trunk so thieves could not see it. Oh great. We did some rearranging and it fit!
We left the airport and headed out. Thank goodness this car has a GPS. Its made by Tom Tom so we are pretty familiar with it. We headed south towards Naples. We decided that we needed to get to Caserta for the night where we could get some badly needed sleep. We stopped so I could get a Red Bull and then drove to Caserta. Once we got there we asked our new best buddy Tom Tom for a list of hotels. We found a bunch of them in a row, except they looked rather derilict and there were alot of undesirable people hanging out around them. Yuck! We looked at the list again and picked out Crown PLaza hotel. It was modern, clean convenient. We checked in, went to our room and crashed for a couple of hours. We went to dinner and then to bed.
There is a palace in Caserta that we wanted to see. Its called the Palazzo Reale. It was built by King Ferdiinand in the late 1700's. He wanted to build a palace
that was grander the palace of Versailles in France. This place has 1750 rooms! It was huge. We walked from one end of the gardens to the other and it was over a mile one way. We next went inside to see the apartments. The ceilings were all 20 feet high or more with gold clad statues and original paintings all over them. This guy must have been one rich dude! We weren't allowed to take photos inside. Too bad. But we did buy a book.
We left Caserta and headed towards Sorrento. The road is very curvy. Itialians drive like idiots! They pass you at any time even when there are cars coming in the other direction. They drive over the line in right hand curves, even when they can see you coming! And the scooters pass you all of the time on both sides of your car. I can't believe we haven't seen an accident yet.
We got to our hotel and checked in. Our room has a view of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius and Sorrento. Its up on a hill above the town. We had dinner on the terrace, with the sun setting over
the hills and a nice bottle of Chianti. Fabulous!
Tomorrow we will take the boat over to the Isle of Capri for a day long outing.
The internet is extremely slow here, so I don't know how many blogs I can get done. This one took 3 hours to complete!

Beautiful and romantic looking. Drive carefully and make sure that first accident you see doesn't involve you. Have fun.
