I started the day off doing the usual routine and then hopped on the bus to spend the day on the Positano beach. It was crazy watching out bus drive on these streets. Who would have thought it was possible to drive that beast down these narrow winding streets on the cliffs of the coast? Not me! Somehow we made it to a point where the bus could no longer make it and then we got out and walked down the steps all the way to the coast. Then we set our towels in place and soaked up those rays. It felt amazing to just lay out in the sun and relax for once. When it got pretty hot, we jumped into the Mediterranean and it was great. At first, the water was definitely chilly, it sent a chill up and down your body but after a few minutes it was so comfortable.
Around 1, we went to lunch. We went to this little restaurant on the beach and it was sooo good! The bruschetta was out of this world and so was their sparkling peach wine =) That will definitely need to be made at home. I'm going to
lunch
I finally had a really good meal just relaxing on the beach need to find a recipe for that, or just toss a bunch of peaches into some sparkling white wine.
After lunch was all eaten up, we ended up renting a boat and heading over to cliff jump. So this was quite the experience. I was all ready to go ahead and try this thing that I have wanted to do for so long. We rented the boat and that was so much fun. There were 8 of us to a boat making it only £10 an hour and we just drove it on the water and the adrenaline from going fairly fast on the open water with no worries in the world, was priceless.
Then we got to the cliff. So this cliff was interesting. In order to get up on it, you had to somewhat ride a wave and at the same time, climb up onto a rock before the wave took you back don with it. Plus, you had to watch out for fire coral. I think I would have been better off not knowing that there was fire coral around the cliff because I was so paranoid of it that I couldn't concentrate at all
of the timing of the waves and ended up with a nice size cut in my thigh as well as a whole mess of smaller ones all up and down from my hands and arms to my knees and the tops of my feet. So I gave up and started swimming back to the boat. When I got to it, I realized that I was bleeding a good amount from my leg and my thoughts immediately went to sharks. "Aren't there sharks in these waters? And aren't they attracted to blood?" That freaked me out and I climbed up into the boat and tried to stop the bleeding.
After a few minutes, another girl on the trip who was driving the boat said,"Oh my god!" I didn't really care what was going on. All I knew was that my leg was hurting and I was bleeding. Finally, I looked up and what did I see? There was a girl on the top of the cliff with blood running down her face! Then suddenly I knew why that girl was pretty much speechless. Upon taking a closer look, who else would it have been? Maxann. Of course, it was Maxann.
It would be the two of us to get injured on a weekend trip to the coast. Apparently, while she was up there, she was minding her footing and ended up walking into a rock that had her seeing stars (cartoon style) and with a nice Harry Potter lightening cut on her forehead. Well, I'm glad to say that she's okay now. Then again, she was okay then too. While everyone else was freaking out, all she was saying is "No, guys, really, It's fine! I'm good." - what a trooper. When we returned the boat, there was a person helping us off of it. He looked at Maxann's head and she was like... "Oh, it's just a scratch." It was a bit more than that, probably could have used a few stitches since it was on her face, but oh well.
We finished off our day at Positano by walking around down a little bit. I had the best peach that I have ever had of my life there. I should have taken a picture of that! It was so juicy and sweet! Oh, I wish I bought another one. Unfortunately, Maxann and I left everything in the
hostel and ended up not having any money at all by the end of the day and juuust having enough to get everything.
When we got back to Sorrento from taking the ferry up the coast, we stopped off at this amazing pizzeria. It supposedly has the best pizza in the area according to a few sources, and you know what? It was really good. I think it was better than the one we had in Capri too.
Finishing up the night, we just did the same thing, we hung out with some of the people we met and sat on the roof drinking some wine. It is definitely great to be in Italy.
