We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden. We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. The small theatre was often used for music performances

Large theatre

Near the large theatre is a structure called "Arcaded Court of the Gladiators" leading me to think that occasionally they held gladiator games here

There are many preserved mosaics in Pompeii.

Casts of dead people

When Pompeii was excavated the archaeologists found many dead bodies

Casts of dead people

They only found the bones, no soft tissue was left. When the dead bodies decomposed a cavity was created in the ash where the bodies had been.

Most likely poppies
When I blow up the photo the red flowers look very much like poppies so they probably are. You were right. /Ake

I think most of these paintings are "frescoes" which are paintings on fresh, wet plaster walls?

I have seen Komodo Dragons
I sense a bit of a hesitation against lizards. I then have to tell you that I have been to Komodo Island in Indonesia and there I saw Komodo Dragons. They are three meters long and they are the only lizards that see humans as food. They are scary! /Ake

I hate all creepy crawlies, esp big ones LOL How big was this one? I have been to Indonesia & seen komodo dragons too, agree, they're scary. I don't mind little geckos though. I had some in my rental in Penang. After I got used to them & convinced myself they wouldn't fall off the ceiling onto my face while I was sleeping, I found them comforting as they ate mosquitos.

Love this close up of where many feet and chariots have trod. Thanks for reviving my memories of a trip I took there with my daughter last February.

One of the best Roman site I've seen
If you are a fan of Roman sites it is a must. I have seen quite a few and Pompeii is one of the best. /Ake
