Though my day was not going so good...This guy had it much worse on August 24, 79 AD Have you ever planned something thinking it is going to be special. You do the research, you make sure you have everything in place and that everyone is on board...you're actually looking foward to the day...then a late driver and untimely complaining, and your something special turns into something to forget. Today started out not so good and ended not so great. I thought I would leave the blogging to others who may have found something special in the day to write about. Hey, a day like this was bound to happen. So, take it away Liz:
Hey this is Liz: Well first off, we had to wake up REALLY early to catch our ride to Pompeii, considering the city is 3 hours away from Rome. So we got up at 6:15 in the morning which is WAY earlier than we had gotten up that week, to get ready to leave by 6:45. So we walk downstairs and we wait outside for our van and the driver was late and picked us up at like 7:05. So we were driving and when we were nearing Pompeii our driver got off an exit too early and we got lost in Napoli

Mt. Vesuvius in the background destroyed Pompeii in 79 AD. It is considered one of the most dangerous volcanos in the world due to its explosive eruptions. We were lucky. It did not erupt on us the day we visited. Whew! and Renee had to help guide him to the ruins. Finally we got to Pompeii at 11:30 am and started our private tour after negotiations by Renee. It was really interesting because the ruins were in really good shape after being covered by lava, and you could still see the grooves in the streets from when the chariots ran over them in ancient Rome. Also when they were digging in the ruins they found hallowed lava with decaying bodies of people killed in the infamous Vesuvius eruption. They made plaster cases around the bodies to show you how they would have looked when they died. It was a really interesting day. After that we left and had lunch and drove back into Rome. We arrived back at 5:00. A very long day for us and the driver.
Later that night Kaitlyn, Candi and I met up with my friend Felicia who lived in Rome until 8th grade but moved to California with her mom and finished out her school year there, leaving her dad behind in Italy. Anyways we met up with her at the Spanish Steps later that night and we walked around with her and shopped and

The streets were well perserved. she showed us Rome the way the Romans see it. We walked down to Piazza Navona and we got henna tattoos there too. Then we set off to have dinner and gelato and then we walked all the way back to our hotel from the coliseum, which took us about 45 minutes to do but the time just flew by. That day was really fun and I’m glad we got to see ancient Rome and present day Rome the way the Romans would see it.
Ciao, Skye here.
While the girls went out and Annie and Ray retired for the evening, Renee and I went out to paint the town Red, White and Blue. First we had to figure out where to go, we asked the hotel concierge and he told us to go to the Piazza S. Maria in Trastevere, he said “it’s the best restaurant in Roma.” Renee and I were very eager to get to the restaurant to meet these Italian Stallions (or to get a glimpse of one) off we went in a taxi. Once we arrived the taxi guy pointed and said there is your restaurant. I paid him and off we went

When the streets fill up with water, these stepping stones were used to walk across the street. My model Candace demonstrates for you. in our heels. Looking at the signs neither one of us could find the restaurant, so being spontaneous we decided to find another place to eat. Our choice was Ristorante Galeassi. This place looked fabulous, many Italian people were eating outside on the patio and well it looked like the place to be. As we headed to the restaurant, we looked around at the square we were in and wow it was beautiful. There were so many people lounging around the fountain, kids running around causing trouble and many couples enjoying there evening stroll.
We get a seat outside and started to look at the menu. We ordered melon perscuito, which was fantastic. For the meal portion I ordered the sword fish and Renee ordered the roasted lamb; we also ordered a bottle of vino to go along with our meal. After placing our order the waiter brought our vino. He explained to us that they were out of the vino that we ordered and brought a bottle he thought we would like. He poured the glass of vino and walked away. Note there was never a taste of the vino or anything he just poured and off her

The girls hanging out at The Forum. went. Finally our food comes out and is placed in front of us. I tasted my sword fish and was not happy with the fish. The sword fish has got to be hands down the worst fish I have ever had. It was so bad I asked Renee to taste it to make sure that I wasn’t exaggerating. After tasting the fish she agreed it was disgusting. Now it was her turn to taste the lamb in front of her. She lifted up the skin and looked at the meat it was nothing but fat and very little dark meat. I was determined to not let my food get the best of me. After each bite I would down the fish with my vino-thank you Lord for vino! We started to talk to the family next to us about our food and what do you know they said it was the worst food ever.
After our worst meal ever we decided to call it a night and grab a cab, I asked the waiter while giving him a five euro tip and he pointed down the street and said all of the taxies are waiting around the corner about

Baker's oven. Carbonized loaves of bread were found here. a 1/2 a mile away. Being the spontaneous chicks we are, we go to the bar next door and get ourselves a quick drink and then have them get us a cab. And that is exactly what we did. We ordered our drinks and while they were being made we asked the owner's son to please call us a cab. After Renee’s begging and pleading we finally got our way. Oh yeah and we found out that the restaurant that we were just at had a contract with the taxi service, hhhmmmm could it have been my five euro tip that made him upset?
We decided to call it a night because it wasn’t our night and off we went in the cab. When we arrived at our hotel, Renee paid the driver 50 euro, please note that the amount due was only 11 euro. The driver decided to give Renee 35 euro back-ha can’t fool us, what was the woman thinking?
Now we know to stay away from this restaurant and to check all of our change and our restaurant bills. We also know that the Italians should stick to pasta, they just can’t cook chicken, meat

Renee and I still talk about that dinner and how awful it was. We were so ready to paint the town Red, White and Blue that evening, instead we walked away with a lemon drop smile (the cocktail we ordered) and hurting feet.
