It has been a lot of planning and saving, but we are within 2 days of traveling! We have packed and repacked our backpacks, arranged for transport, taking care of a last few details. This has been 4 1/2 months in the planning!
It all started after our last vacation, when we were thinking a bicycle trip through Belgium, kinda like the New Belgium Beer Company founder had made many years ago. There is not too much info out there about touring Belgium on a bicycle, so it was taking too long to plan. Our vacation loomed in the not too distant future, and planning for a Belgium vacation was not going as planned!
We looked at Ireland as a travel destination around 4 years ago, but the flight and lodging costs were prohibitive. We looked again and found a good bundle deal on a website for a fly & drive vacation to Ireland, where we must book the accommodations. Time to book some rooms!
Our budget is rather tight, so we were trying to keep the rooms below 40 euros / 50 bucks a night. Yes, that is cheap, but with flights being so dear, that is what we had to work with for lodging budgets. We went through a lot of websites for information, wrote quite a few e-mails, but we were able to keep well within our means. We shall see how the hotels, hostels, and B&B's work out. It will be quite an adventure!
We are planning a tour of Ireland starting with 4 1/2 days in Dublin then working our way clockwise around the country, and then ending in Dublin.
The excitement builds as there is one last day to show up at work... Should I call in sick tomorrow?!!! Guess not, if I still want to have a job when I get back.
