Steve running away with the cardboard man Ewwy, very early morning this morning... the alarm went off at 5.15am, the earliest ever! We decided to leave at 5.45am to allow plenty of time to get to Heathrow, checked in and through security. We arrived at Heathrow at about 7am and had the perfect amount of time and were ready for our flight... then it got delayed by 30 minutes... stinkin' plane arrived late.
Oh yea, we checked our bags in... Ekk is all I have to say. Steve's pack weighs 19.2kg, Nicole's weighs 19.9kg and mine... 20.1kg! And that was not including our hand luggage (Nicole's hand luggage weighed 9.5kg and she has already sent a big package home!) The guy told me I wasn't allowed to do any shopping in Ireland (he was joking right???).
Anyway after a few more delays we were on our way on a little puddle jumper (as Steve calls them), a small plane with 2 seats on one side and 1 on the other, and managed to make it safely in Dublin. It is really nice here in Ireland, reminds me very much of New Zealand with the green scenery! We went and found some brekkie when we arrived. While eating breakfast

Jamieson barrels the rugby game of Ireland vs Australia was playing... how embarrassing Australia!!!! I dared Nicole to run into the middle of the BIG crowd to shout 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi' but for some reason she didn't want to! I did make sure I said in a loud voice 'Steve, now would not be a good time to admit you are Australian, would it!?'
We signed up for our rental car (Warning to others – be careful of Thrifty... they may seem cheap but end up having a lot of hidden costs!) and caught the shuttle to Thrifty's depot to pick up our car. We had to put on our winter wollies when we stepped outside because it is COLD!!!!
We had to wait a while for them to wash the car as it had just been returned and when the lady came to tell us it was ready she pointed outside to the black car, problem was there were 2 black cars. Steve got rather excited because he thought we had scored a nice big car again... yea, not the case! We do have a nice car, just the nice little granny car! Haha. It was cheap to

Nicole being one of the taste testers run and does the job so who cares! He still wants to upgrade somewhere to get a porche or some type of fast car... apparently he has forgotten how much luggage we have!
We went into Dublin centre and went to a whiskey distillery and took a tour of the place. After this we tried to get out Garmin GPS to take us to our hotel... that wasn't happening! Our GPS was not so co-operative so we had to blindly make our way back to the rental place to complain! Of course when I took it to the guy to have my rant (because Steve ducked off to the toilet... chicken!), he got the satallite to register where we were but I still refused to take it and we got a new one... it is much better and it co-operates!
We arrived at out acommodation (Travelodge) that we had paid $50 for the 3 of us. We weren't expecting great things but when we opened the door we almost fell over backwards... It is the nicest and biggest accommodation we have stayed in so far! I would highly recommend it to people, just book early on like we did.
We had a yummy dinner at the restaurant (Steak and mushroom pie for me, Beef stew for Steve). After dinner Nicole was shattered so we pretty much went back and went to bed... problem was it was only 9.15pm and I was not tired (that is the only down side to sleeping in a room with others, it is hard to stay up when others want to sleep). I managed to watch TV for a while and the others went to sleep.
Well nothing else to report on for today!
Love everyone and missing everyone!
