Mmmmm Food
Much like October, November ended up being a pretty busy month. It started out with the BEST DAY OF EVERY YEAR... aka my brithday. I hit the quarter of a century mark this year and went for the more quiet close friend affair at home. I had to work during the day so when I arrived home my flat mates had decorated and got a cake for me. I walked in and they sang happy birthday (in english) and milan played it on his guitar (which he learned 5 minutes before I walked into the room). My friend Carol came by and we all had dinner and cake and laughed and joked. My flatmates gave me a very pretty necklace that I really adore. It ended up being a really nice evening and I chatted with my parents before I headed off to bed, as I had to work the next morning.
Later that week, my friend Esther invited me over for a Paellla dinner. After work we walked together to her house, which isn't very far from my flat. When we arrived at her place I helped and watched her cook the
Paella so that I could remember how to make it for later. The ingredients for the Paella were: red and yellow peppers, chick peas, white beans, tomatoes, onions, pork, chicken, saffron, and rice. We started by grating the tomatoes so they were a mushy paste. Then we fried the peppers in the paellera pan. Once the peppers were done we removed them and fried the onions and then added the tomatoe mush and cooked it until it had evaporated. Next we added the pork and chicken until they were cooked through. We added the beans, saffron, and then equal portions of the rice and water. We mixed it all together and then left the rice to cook through (about 20min). Once all the water was gone we decorated it with the peppers and then put the big pan on the middle of the table. Everyone grabbed a fork and we all dug in. It tasted so very good. I wonder how hard it would be to find a Paellera pan in Toronto... It probably wouldn't be to hard.
The following week, my friend Carol (who works next door to my work) invited me over for dinner. SIDE NOTE: I

Everyone dig in! like when people cook for me... and it happens a lot here!!!! After work I headed over to her house where she was cooking a red chicken curry. At the dinner was myself, carol's coworker Ciara, another worker in our shopping center Scott, her flat mate Lyn, and another worker in our shopping center Diego. Scott is Irish and happens to be the strangest and most eccentric person I have ever met in my life. When he first arrived he said "sorry I am late. I was meeting my physicist friend and we got carried away talking about outer space for my new childrens book that I am writing." And then for the rest of the night he would say random things that he has done in his life.. these are some of the random excerpts of the conversation: "one time I was working as a journalist and I found myself in the middle of a whisky tasting and had 20 shots of different whiskys... but I only got in because I told them I was doing an article but I really just wanted the free whisky and never wrote and article" , " I was working a children's party
the other week... you know cause I am a magician on the side" ," I was traveling through Spain when this guy in Madrid gave me the keys to his house because he was going away for a month and said I could stay there... well me and his farm staff drank the whole cider cellar" , " when I was travelling through Chile I was near a small town outside of Santiago and decided to celebrate being there and got the whole town excited about me being there that we literally drank ALL of the alcohol in the town that they had to wait two weeks for another delivery" , " while I was living in Madrid I would have my wife paint me pink and purple and i would climb a tree and street perform as a lizard making very small movements... I made a lot of money that year" , " I was wrestling this one guy dressed as a greek god and blondie was being held up in the background.. and thats the movie set that I met my wife on" , " Last night I got accidently really drunk and have no idea how I

Carol and I out dancing the weekend before my birthday got home"... and those are only the small things that I can remember at this moment. I spent the whole night looking at carol and ciara saying "is this guy for real?" Anyways, the dinner was delicious but the table conversation was the highlight of my life!
So that pretty much covers November... I will work on December next.
