Ireland Ladies and Gentlebugs - another short blog... try to contain your sighs of relief...
While Jo and Billy were on holidays, we had a blast housesitting and catching up on our housekeeping. We walked the dogs along the beach everyday which was lovely, as long as the weather was good. Which it sometimes was. Got a see a seal poking its little head up and watching the dogs and us with great scepticism while we whooped with delight. We took a day trip to Trim Castle, north west of Dublin and then headed to Dublin to visit Miss Veronica and see the city.
High on the priority list was the Guinness Storehouse where we learned everything about how Guinness is made, short of the exact recipe, and were given free pints at the end of the tour. Why does it have to taste so much more crap at home? Its really REALLY good in Ireland.
We cruised around the streets of Dublin, seeing as much as we could, though not as many churches as usual. Why you ask? Because they charge you for entry!!! Wheres the Christian kindness there?
We hired bikes and rode around Phoenix Park,

Ireland which was just magic as autumn has definitely hit and the hills were gold and red and green and everything in between. Thoroughly recommend doing this if youre ever in Ireland.
We had an awesome time with V - and she made us a goats cheese tart for dinner one night which is so exciting! We headed back to Jos house to clean it all up and make it look pretty for their return, as well as to prep for a dinner party Jo was having the night after they got back. Saturday nights dinner party was brilliant - everyone was up for a party so there was food and dancing and 20 bottles of wine, a bottle of gin, beers and cider had between 14 people. Everyone left their cars behind - always a sign of a good time had by all.
Next day we had a steady flow of people coming through to collect said cars - and looking somewhat worse for wear. We met Jenny and Merv at the party the night before - a couple from Tassie, and they came to collect their 4WD on Sunday - in their Audi S5. Nemo could hardly

Ireland contain himself. He kept peering at it through the window and then slowly circling it outside. Next thing I saw was him sitting in it. And then heard Merv offering to let him go for a drive. I think Nemo may have cried a little. And off they went. This was probably the one single highlight of our whole holiday so far for the Fish. They got back and then Merv took Nemo off for a drive through the Wicklow mountains to unleash the Audi for all it was worth. When the Fish was finally delivered safe and sound back to Jos, he was grinning from ear to ear. We might get to catch up with those guys again, as they will be staying at their holiday house in the French Alps over December/January and have invited us to some and stay. Hooray! Theyre a great laugh and we would get to see a part of France that would otherwise be totally out of the picture otherwise. Go the Aussies!
On Monday Jo took us to visit her aunt and then her granny in Wateford. I haven managed to download all of those photos yet, but this was also

Ireland an experience to remember. The house that Emily (Jos grandmother) lives in is built on an old Norman Castle and has remained in the family since the 1200s!!! There are portraits of their ancestors all over and the place is like a giant museum. It is one of the most incredible places weve seen so far on our travels and all the more special as it wasnt just a museum crawling with tourists - it was all ours to enjoy! Emily took us on a tour of the grounds and the house and knows every little bit of the history of the magestic Dromana. The hospitality that we receieved - at Jo and Billys, Veronicas Caroline and Ralphs, Julian and Lynnes, Emilys and just everywhere has meant that our time in Ireland was really so amazing. Thanks everyone!!! We can probably offer you a blow up bed in our house if youre ever coming back our way!
:o)
So were in Edinburgh now after flying into Glasgow. All is well, though were missing our Irish family. Apologies for the short blogs, but dont fancy spending all day in internet cafes. Way too much to see in this city.
But that is, once again, the next chapter: the land of Haggis, kilts, cashmere and Willy Wallace.
And the apostrophes have gone mental in the blog so apologies if it is coming out all funny.
