(This is the second part of May 29th)
After checking in to our hostel (which is awesome) we decided to go to Howth, Ireland. Howth is around 30 minutes away from Dublin and we took a train/tram/subway type thing to get there (we're not certain what it was). While walking to the train station, a guy that was walking there too started talking to us. His name was PJ and he lived in Dublin. He was amazed that we only had one middle name and so he decided that we needed an additional one as well. He gave us the names Francheska (spell?) for Amber and Florence for Sam. Everyone we came across in Dublin were very friendly and welcoming.
We reached Howth (pronounced like 'both') and this town is probably the most beautiful place either of us have ever been (so far). We walked around the main part of town which had big fishing boats and little restaurants that lined the pier. We then decided to walk up to the cliffs. We followed a path for around 45 minutes and then we decided that it was taking way too long to reach the top so we figured
we'd be smart and take a short cut. We were hoping to reach the top in time so we could see the sunset. Our short cut started out alright and then we ended up in the middle of weeds, sticky bushes, and the biggest slugs we'd ever seen. Finally when we reached the top it occurred to us that it was completley daylight and it was 8:30 pm and that the sun sets WAY later in Ireland during the summertime. After realizing this we decided to go on back to Dublin to see what all was going on.
We took the train back in to town and we got off on one stop too late. We both freaked out because our tickets weren't valid to travel that far and we knew we were going to have to pay a fine. We seen another girl around (her name was Margo and she was from Poland) and we asked her what to do. We ended up following her out and she showed her ticket to the people at the gate and they just assumed that us 3 were traveling together so they hardly even glanced at our tickets. We were definately glad
that we met her.
When we got to the main part of Dublin, we went looking for a good place to eat. This is when we came across the 'Bad Ass Cafe'... who wouldn't want to eat there?? haha The place was ran by Japanese guys who were all really funny (as was everyone we met in Dublin). When the guy brought out our pizza he sat it on top of our drinks by mistake and started laughing and said 'Sorry!!! I'm drunk!!!'. Haha.. everyone in this town drinks and they are very proud of their beer. Earlier that day we had been walking down the street behind a guy and next thing we know he just reaches in to his pocket, pulls out a beer, and starts drinking it. After we finished eating we looked out the window and there was a band playing in the middle of the street. Everyone walking by would stop and go out in the street and they would do an 'Irish jig'. We have never laughed so much as what we did in Dublin. Everyone here is really happy and friendly and seems to always be doing something funny.
