der fart
crazy german signs in zurich airport hello!
so today was my first proper day of travels.. and i thought i'd do a blog because a) i need to kill some time before siobhan gets here and b) i was that out of it all of yesterday i dont really remember the group email i sent!! and c) bloggin is easier than emailing :D
i ended up befriending a canadian and an american in my dorm yesterday... they were really nice.. me and bartt (the american) had a massive talk about the arrogance of americans and why almost eveyrone hates them... it was pretty funny... and i went down to the tv room and we were watching some crap and this guy.. i think he was either spanish or from south america somewhere... came in and was like.. is it south park time... so he ended up changing it to south park and most other people left so i sat there with this spanish person pissing ourselves laughing over south park! good times!
when i woke up this morning it seemed like ok weather... i mean it's summer over here.. but no! it's been raining all day and i've been freezing my ass off and
dublin does sweeny todd
see evan.... sweeny todd in dublin... i took this for you evsky i left my umbrella at the hostel... but do you think that stopped me walking all over dublin.. ahh no! i spent about 2 hours today in the modern art museum... they had a monet and i actually stood right up close to it and got to check out the brush work.. and after studying impressionism in studio last year it was awesome to actually look at real impressionist painting up close... it was awesome! I also checked out this huge exhibition on a famous irish artist francis bacon... he's inspiring.. mainly coz he believed it was from having clutter NOT organisation that gave him inspiration... they had a recreation of his london flat and it was soooooooooooooooo messy... i mean i thought my room got bad but woah! i got a postcard of it so i'll show everyone when i get home!
i also had a pot of tea at the gallery cafe it cost me about AU$3 and i got like 3 cups out of it... it made me very happy.. but then i went to a cafe just before and i got one cup of tea for about €2.50 which is alot more! so im not
street performers
some street performers festival in the park... it was pretty... siobhan is presenting sure if dublin is expensive or not yet...
i also tried to find the oscar wilde museum but i got so lost in downtown dublin i had no idea where it was.. i know it was in marrion square and i found marrion street and after walking up and down it for about half an hour i thought screw this... im going inside! but i did find the james joyce museum but i decided not to go because this saturday is BLOOMSDAY!!! haha it's a big.. or small im not sure... festival based on the journey of leopold bloom.. the main character from ulysees which was written by james joyce.. an uber famous irish author! so i figure we'll check that out...
also apparently this weekend is fathers day here... our fathers day isnt til september.. right? it confused me!!!
it's really exciting being here.. just walking around dublin and soaking it all in is just amazing... i still cant believe im in europe!!!! although i found the best thing was when i was at zurich airport and all these people were walking past me speaking in german, french, italian, or in english with random accents... i
gold ladies
street performers... they wouldve been freezing 'm loving being in this massive melting pot of culture... it's fantastic!!
also co-inccidently my hostel is in the polish district and they have good pastries... that are cheap 😊
siobhan get's here in about 6 hours and i am very very very excited! although we'll see how it goes getting to the airport coz as i was coming to the hostel i noticed the bus only stops at some stops at the drivers lesuire it seems... it's bizaree... im so glad im not driving here either because the roads are insane... they make no sense to my australian brain.. i mean they have 4 lights on their traffic lights... the bottom one is an arrow and i thought that was just if you were turning left or right but some of the arrows point straight ahead and the road split up and reform all over the place and there is all these one way streets and it just makes no sense!
i'm running out of things to do and im trying to escape the cold by every means possible!! so i dont want to leave this cafe just yet....... oh and there are heaps of churches here... although a lot of them are old churches redone as other things... for example my hostel... it's really a church.. well the dining hall is anyway... crazy irish!
ok so i've written heaps now... i think that should suffice for the next few days/weeks because i'll be with siobhan TONIGHT! i'll have some else to keep me busy... thankgod! because as much as i'm loving this whole independance thing i am feeling a bit lonely.. already... it's kind of a bitter sweet thing.. but it's all good... i've got a smile on my face.. im freezing my ass off but im in dublin so i think thats cause enough to be happy😊
ok im done now... i promise.. sorry for the extended rambling.. speak soon!!
oh also don't really understand my phone.. the sim card isnt as kind to me as i thought it would be so i might get a euro sim in the coming weeks.. i'll keep you all posted
cheers
