25 September 2014 Today we visited Hania, a city on the north coast of Crete with an attractive harbour surrounded by buildings of Venetian and Turkish origin. Behind it is a myriad of narrow pedestrianized streets full of shops and restaurants aimed at the tourists who appear to flock here.
We had a delicious lunch in a small back street taverna recommended by the guide book and then had a look at the Archaeological Museum situated in the beautifully restored Venetian Church of San Francisco.
Our day here was finished with a wander around the old town which was now a lot quieter in the early evening sunshine.
