Santorini

Today my friends and I took a 5 hours ferry ride to the island of Santorini. There was a group of 6 of us, 4 of which were staying in one hotel and 2 in another. Upon arriving in Santorini, the owner of our hotel, Babis, was there to pick us up. He was so cute! The hotel is family owned and operated and was so cute with a pool. We were supposed to have one room with 4 beds, but we ended up getting 2 rooms with 2 beds each for only 80 euro a night (for both), which was a pretty good deal.

Right when we got there Babis called a place for us and we rented four-wheelers. It cost 15 euro to rent one for 24 hours…such a bargain! We drove everywhere! First we headed to the coast and went to a couple different beaches. After that we went up the island to the town of Oia, which is like “postcard Santorini” with all the white houses and blue roofs, to watch the sunset. The ride there took about one hour. When we got there we really didn’t know where to go and just started taking random turns. We ended up at this awesome bar/lounge with a bar and pool at the edge of a cliff with the most perfect view of the sunset. After the hour-long ride, the pool was a nice treat and the sunset was very pretty.

We headed back to the hotel, found some dinner, and then got ready for a night out on the town. We took a twenty minute walk into the town of Fira and came across this tiny little cobblestone street with about 20 bars and clubs. There were young people everywhere and it was just like one big party. Needless to say, we had a blast and ended the night with a nice, greasy gyro and some French fries.
