I am 26!
The same number of ounces in a wine bottle...very convenient! Happy Birthday to Me! Thank you to all of you who sent me birthday wishes on Sunday! It’s been a pretty cool celebration for me this year since not only am I celebrating it with Kels in Greece, but we also had Reed and Sarah here visiting us for four days!
They arrived last Tuesday and we had an awesome time! The afternoon they arrived Kelsey surprised me with CAESARS!!! Yup that’s right…Vodka, Clamato, Worcestershire, Tabasco, Celery Salt, Limes, and fresh celery…in Rhodes! Fantastic! Thanks to Tiff who brought everything from Canada last month! What a treat! That night we had dinner at Megan’s restaurant and I enjoyed my Caesars with a great Indian dinner. Then we had a few drinks in an “alley bar” in the old town of Rhodes, and then headed into the new town for some serious partying at the nightclub “Colorado.” It was definitely good-times as they had live music all night, and me and Reed helped out the band with our air-guitars until 5:00am! Rockin’ and a Rollin’!
Needless to say the next morning was slow going and out voices were a bit scratchy (for some reason?), but we did manage to get
ourselves mobile and rented a car and went down island to hang out and do some rejuvenating and snorkelling at Afandou Beach and then later on checked out the picturesque town of Lindos.
On Thursday I had to work on the beach during the day, selling tickets for the Boat Party, and Kels took Reed and Sarah to the farmers market and then they toured around the old town and new town of Rhodes. That night we had a nice little picnic on a quiet part of the beach and got a chance to catch up and B.S.
Then on Friday we all went to the local beach, had a swim and a sun-bake (Reed tried to fix his “white T-Shirt” of a farmer’s tan to no avail) and then we headed back into the old town for an amazing Greek Seafood dinner. For dinner we had fresh grilled octopus, rocket salad, saganaki, ahi tuna, giant scallops, and black-ink cuddle fish - everything was beautiful. Then after dinner we ventured further into the old town and found another cool little “alley bar” where you could sample a “Turkish Hookah Pipe” (flavoured tobacco only of course!). So we sat
Good Times All Around
Reed, Sarah and me at Colorado. down and had a few drinks and a smoke as well as a few laughs and coughing fits. Definitely a very memorable night!
Then on Saturday Reed and Sarah had to pack up and head home after their four-day stay with us, which was the end of their one-month Mediterranean holiday. After Reed and Sarah were on their way to the airport Kels and I just relaxed and enjoyed a day of rest.
Then on Sunday (my actual birthday), I helped get one of our Boat Parties underway and then hit up the beach to sell tickets for the next trip. After a full-on and busy day on the beach I came home and had a wonderful bottle of wine with Kels and then went for a nice simple Greek dinner with dolmades, stuffed tomatoes, stuffed peppers, giant beans, meatballs, and tzaziki. Simple and very tasty.
And now I’m 26 and as good as ever! It was a great week of fun and celebrations, thanks to Reed and Sarah for being here, thanks to Megan, Yiannis, and Mannos (my Greek family) for celebrating with us, and of course thanks to my wonderful Kels for being so thoughtful

Until Next Time…
PS - Yesterday (Tuesday, July 15th) at 6:26am we experienced at 6.3 Earthquake for about 30 seconds! Now we’re Rockin’ and Rollin’! Kels and I were shook from our beds and (thanks to all those earthquake drills in elementary school) instinctively bolted for the door and hunkered down in the frame and waited for our knees to stop wobbling. Kels and I are obviously fine and from what I understand there was no major damage or injuries; not bad for living in a 700 year old town! Never a dull moment…

Hi Daniel and Kelsey, great to hear that you are having a fabulous time in the old world. Love your blog with the wonderful pictures. Actually, I am sitting here, looking at them drooling in anticipation of seeing these sites with my own eyes one of these days. Enjoy and count your blessings. Best wishes Renate
