My time in Paros has come to an end. Paul dropped me at the ferry dock on his way to work this morning, so I'm just relaxing having breakfast at an outdoor cafe, as my ferry isn't til 10. A couple days ago, I walked again to Parikia, with a beach break along the way Then I took the bus up to Lefkes, which is a little mountain town witha beautiful view. I stopped for lunch there, and noticed someone else that was sitting on his own, so I invited him to join my table. He accepted, so we had a nice visit over lunch. He's a psychologist, is name is Nico, he's American, but Greek parents, so has come to Greece many times. We exchanged contact details in case there was a chance to meet up again on the island (of course, I offered him a hostel card!). Note to my mom, who I know is reading this blog and will be speculating: this is not a romance, just making friends with another traveler. One of the things I love about traveling solo is connecting with new people. From there, I went on to a beach (Punda) on the south
side, and sat and read for awhile in the shade. Then I followed a lovely trail along the coastline all the way to Golden Beach, and met Paul when he was finishing work. We had a few drinks at the dive shop with staff and divers, then headed home. Yesterday, I got up early to get a ride with Paul. I wanted to do the coast walk again, and he told me it goes even further, to a town called Piso Lavadi. I made that my goal for the morning. I walked over, then found a bakery for breakfast, and sat enjoying the view. Then I started to make my back- there are lots of little beach coves along the walk with hardly anyone on them, so I decided I'd pick one of those for a break along the way. I had messaged Nico earlier to see if he wanted to do the walk to Piso Lavadi, but he had been meeting with a friend. I got a message from him while I was at my little beach cove. His visit was over and he had rented out a car. I shared the location on whatsapp, and he came to
hang out on the beach. Then we went for lunch, and he dropped me by the dive shop, as I was heading out for a snorkel trip. Paul's high school friend and his wife were also doing the trip. The water is cold! I had a vest with hood and a full suit on top, so made it about 30 min before I decided to get out. We saw a couple octopii, a few fish and the water was nice and clear, but other than, nothing too exciting. Being out on a boat is always great though, so I just spent the next snorkel stop relaxing in the sun. We got back to the shop, showered and changed, and waited for Paul to finish work. Then the 4 of us went out to dinner together, which was really nice. We got home a little before 10, so I got all my stuff packed up and ready to go before bed. Now a new adventure, Mykonos! I don't know anyone there and haven't connected with anyone on travel groups that are heading there these dates, so maybe I'll meet someone fun on the ferry😊
