We woke up in time for a quick walk in the square and then went back to the apartment to meet our host who was driving us to the airport.

As we loaded our bags into the car it started to snow! We had seen it snow before in Japan and Salzburg, but not big fluffy white flakes like these! Personally, I didn't want to get in the car – I just wanted to stay in the snow!!!

We checked into the airport easily and then after a short stop in the airline club (where the guy next to us had his cat – pets are allowed in the cabin in Europe!!!), we boarded the bus for the short ride to the tarmac. As we got on the bus the snow got much heavier – quickly covering the ground!!

We boarded the plane by the stairs (Princess Kate style!!!) amid a flurry of snowflakes. And after the plane's wings were sprayed with anti-snow stuff (we don't have that at home!!) we set off on an uneventful flight to Hamburg.

The weather in Hamburg was beautiful and a lot warmer than Prague (no snow though) and we collected our massive Mercedes van (Grandad and I can't even reach across the middle row and with the boys in the back and 3 spare seats it's a lot roomer than the Tilda!!) We then drove to our apartment which is a half hour drive outside Hamburg.

We set off to a small restaurant a short drive away – where very little English was spoken but “wifi” is international and Google Translate is a wonder!!!
