Frauenkriche - another old church
Whoever guest old church is oarsome. Coolest looking building in Dresden Dresden, the capital of Saxony, home of various old building, some old looking building that were rebuilt after WW2, and apparently an excellant example of eastern germanyness (aka, communist germany pre berlin wall). We arrived after trainging across half of Germany in time to have dinner, check out the actually very cool skybar for a very forgetable local beer before bed. At this point I should comment that if you are traveling to germany and are under 25, a german rail pass is the best train option. You get a to travel X days in a month for a very reasonable price and you can use any public transport in the country for that day!. We awoke with slight confusion, wondering as to why we came to dresden. Frustartion built as the only good thing about the hostel was infact the sky bar. Stay away from A+O Hotel Hostels. Not good.
A quick internet search and a few map perusals later saw us out the door. A German school teacher with about 30 primary school kids stopped and asked me for directions to, the only english word she new, the zoo. I was happy to oblige with some helpful map
The old church + us
woot. note the lack of cold weather gear, and lack of shoes on CG. Was a v cold day lol pointing and vague gesturing to see them happily on their way with a danke shon and with a smile. I am conviced to this day that I gave them sound advice and that they are at the very least alive and well.
Our walking tour that we decided on covered a system of 32 numbered points with walking directions between each so we attache that!! With much entusiasm.... Even when it told us to catch various trams, we would shrug it off, after all, Trams are for people who know how to use Trams. This turned out to be not so good lol. We walked for 8 solid hours, all through the city, all along the river, up a mountain, across the river, then we added more the the journey to find the best site in Dresden that is not even on the map. We were not prepared for the inormity of our task so were cold, and CG had thongs which is apparently a bad thing to do as he now has a misbegotten stump where his right foot used to be, jk, but it is sore.
''Dresden 1726'', amassive panorama. 15 m high by 110 long
Old school pano
Im not sure what this is, but it was long and cool looing (approx) view from the top of the palaces chruch, was amazing. Positional sound effects and details of people working as well as a daz night cycle made the whole panormama simply breathtaking. Tri corner hats as far as the eye can see, and you can relate it because of the buildings we saw that day that were standing back then. Apparrently its the work of a guy called Asisi who did it in part homage to a guy from the 18th centuary who did his own type of panormas (without a macbook i know wtf?). He made his own simple mirror box system that projected images onto a canvas and he could just trace the image to insane detail. Asisi then combined some of his old works with other incomplete ones and well as making new ones then combining them all to make the biggest panorama in the world. Hard to do it justice here, but it was very amazing. I took some crappy videos but not sure if I will upload them because they might just make it look bad.
Managed to hyjack the sound system in the rooftop bar and relax with, if you can imagine such
Palatial Museam
A very cool museum that looks like a fricking palace. Apparently it was made specifically to be a museum a thing, not beer before bed and an early train to Berlin.
Moar later yo
