Well, this will be nice and quick at least. We came up with a new travel loop to head south through western denamrk, back through germany then loop back through a bit of eastern europe and up to finland then beck across to sweeden for DANCE CAMP!! So we started doing taht from here. We basically went for a run, found out waht the strange metal devices were in park...frizbee golf. Other than that we booked a boat to denmark and left lol.. Nice and quick lol. enjoy, e-love for all, Norkalas Girant... read more

Europe » Sweden » Stockholm County » Stockholm May 24th 2010

So we failed to book accomodation for the weekend...again lol. I guess you can't teach a medium age dog new trix . So we came to the Stockholm instead of Gothenburg as we intended. Our backpackers was quite nice as a matter of fact so we were happy =) A brief exploration found us a 30 kron bar which, although it is AU$4.45 its 500 mL which is amazingly cheap for the land we are in (hail satan!). We then managed to cook dinner for ourselves!! Im not really sure what this process entails anymore, when mentioned to me i thought they meant home delivery but it turns out that it is some kind of ritual where you generate complete food for yourself after buying various component ingrediants. Who knew you could even do that? We ... read more

Europe » Norway » Western Norway » Bergen May 22nd 2010

Side note first. Looks like my pictures didnt load too well for the published thing, so just click on one and you can get to them easily. The train ride from Oslo to Bergen is nothing short of stunning. From the deepest green trees up to the highest glacier in Europe it is really really really good looking. Like a faceless infinitely headed serpent however, the lightless entity we had pitted ourselves against sent one of its most powerful minions against us! He took the form of a man, though was unable to fully disguise the filth lurking within. We took warey note of thick oil pasting his shoulder length hair to his neck and the arrogant sneer twisting his mouth. We had no chance. I can only assume this minion of the evil was not ... read more

Europe » Norway » Eastern Norway » Oslo May 14th 2010

Norway welcomed us with the frosty arms of a chilly windy with fleks of snow breathing down our necks matching the chill in my heart of the impending financial crisis I felt was imenent. This mattered little however as the exitement of sandy joining us warmed us like a sleepness night before santa comes when your 6. The fear of overpriced watery bear lead us to stock up on as many spirits as we could in england before we left. This turns out to be a good idea for anyone who is thinking of coming up here, but a bad idea if your pack is allready in the super heavy weight category, clocking in at around 19,2 Kg and your backpackers is at the top of a deceptively steep hill. The packers I mention is a ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England May 10th 2010

Hey hey, So I have not been a good blogman of late have I? Its not my fault I swear!! Internet in Britland and Norland is apparently hard to find and v expensive sooooooo whatever. To the ends of keeping things real and fresh though I have combined the rest of our english adventures into this single super special king prawn chilli chicken ramen gang panang kebab pasta risotto steak sandwich meal deal. First up after Londeron we headed south to Brighton. Londond sucks. Brighton was really nice and simply walking down the street was like bathing in some camomile tea while drinking some of the tea while you bathe in it. This is accounting for the 20 kilo odd that I had strapped to my back and the compressive spin as a result. But it ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London April 30th 2010

sleepy first night after hang over travels. Hostel is a bit shit. Cool because its in an old court house, bad becasue the beds remind me of the setup they had in the early days of Dachau concentration camp we saw near Munich. ALso the uni sex shower contains 1 concrete cubicle with a lockless door on it, as well as a second 'room' which has no door or even curtain, just a bend in the hallway......lol?? Getting sick again zzzz. Did a free walking tour in the arvo and not sure if you can believe such a thing but we skipped the pub crawl!! on a friday night no less!!!! Suck behavior is very unbecoming =) So home instead for some computer work (i sure look after you guys larf). Rain was predicted for the ... read more

Europe » Germany » Hamburg » Hamburg April 29th 2010

Hamburg is and or was apparently a massive port trading city which made its wealth via ocean trade down along the elbe. Originally founded by christians, building a fort called The Hammerburg, which was intened to convert the Vikings to christianity..lol, good luck =P. The vikings kinda liked it but instead burnt down the castle 9 times lol. Other than that hamburg got pounded in WW2 and had a massive fire..otherwise it is just a lovely town nestled against a massive lake and the river elbe. Dinner first night as german as it gets. A guy dressed up as a sailer singing german swaying songs, intermixed with bouts of ein prosit, then jumping to german folkised version of all your faviourite hits like sex bomb. It was hilarious. It was just what we were looking for ... read more

Europe » Germany » Hesse » Frankfurt am Main April 24th 2010

Frankfurt am Main. So named because there is another Frankfurt in eastern Germany lol. We came here with our hearts in our hands and sharp whitt bubbling across our lips. Our lives were going to change, for better or worse, and Frankfurt was the place it was going to happen. A couple of young go getters, with naught but a prodigious banking knowhow and a zest for corporate life. The centre of finance for europe was our ladder, we were on our way to the top... of a building with a lookout, see photos attached. Our plans to conquer this city of banking failed to take shape however, mainly because they were and are imaginary. We did come here not expecting much and instead were welcomed to a bustling red light district on the cusp of ... read more

Europe » Germany » North Rhine-Westphalia » Cologne April 22nd 2010

Hmm, ill keep this one brief methinkgs. We arrived late at night on the train fresh from the loving embrashce of the Colonel and went to bed. The hostels we now book we seem to base so off its proximaty too the hauptbhanhof (main station remember?). This makes it alot easier to get there with our complete lack of german public transport. The major site to see in Cologne is the church. It is a WTF huuuuuge gothic church...took 632 years to build lol and is a fricking amaying building now. Impossible to photograph inside of like a 1km range, which didnt stop me from trying but yeeeah. I had a swing dance hook up here so we went along....to realise that i cant actually remember how to lindy hop and that anyone who would teach ... read more

Since i read Sanders post on Graigs facebook reading 'it will be so good to see my favourite twins again!! We can all wear clogs and dance the holka polka' i knew that it would be a magical experience to see the man himself again. It was better than i could have hoped lol. The colonel is a name that came about as a result of his name being Sander aka. Colonel Sander, nudge nudge, wink wink, lol lol. Basically he is an amzingly friendly and cool man who its just a pleasure to be around. He opened his heart and his home to us for a night.
