Well, train travel really IS the way to go. Had two beautiful trains from Kobenhavn. The route went a different way than I expected and at one stage the train stopped, shut down and seemed to have been evacuated of all but 2 or 3 pax. Then I noticed we were surrounded by large transports - not a hijack but we had driven (very long train) on board a ship and for 45 minutes getting our sea legs all while inside the ship. Next stop, train exits first and we are in Germany.
Arrived by tram to near!! our hotel around midnight. We have finally left the land of the midnight sun - Here it actually gets dark. Real dark. A convoy of wheely bags dragged down a cobble road in the dark at midnight makes a strange sort of sound - like a gang of skateboarders....

As our train left Copenhagen the rain set in and we were one step ahead of it - heavy, too. This morning it has caught us up in Hannover. It's Christer's 32nd birthday and they have gone off exploring. Luckily (?) Zoe has lent us her minimalist umbrella. Ironically it's enough to entice us out just far enough so we can't turn back but can't go on either. (I don't think they've heard of verandahs here. I guess they would just catch the snow in winter). Anyway, wet as shags we walk to the city. A mate from Adelaide, Jeff Brenton is coming to meet us for dinner tomorrow night - He'll get the train from Dusseldorf after work and we'll have dinner here with him - midst much talk about paragliding, no doubt...

We hope it's not as wintery back home as it is here...
