Oberstdorf, Bavaria, Germany
Melissa and I stayed at a Gästhaus about 3 towns up the mountainside, the “Berg Vagabund.” A very nice lady and her husband basically ran a hotel out of their oversized chalet, and they did not speak a word of English (their daughter, who was about 18 helped us out when the language barrier was impassable). Skiing on the Nebelhorn for 2 days was more than enough to wear us out, but I think it was the best skiing-snow I ever remember. *Ever.* …Not to rub your nose in it or anything, of course. Hey, if it's any consolation, we got so damn tired skiing everyday that we really just sat in the hotel room in the evening, resting our bones. Oh, my. Life *is* rough...

These guys were on the bookshelf in our room at the Berg Vagabund. No comment.

The blue runs were harder than they looked, and the reds just about killed me! I fell more times than I care to remember, that's for sure

If this wasn't lucky, I don't know what is... there were honest-to-goodness Alpenhorn blowers playing up on the mountainside at the cable car stops. It resonated all over the valley, plus they were in full dress. How cool is that?

I thought this picture might give a good idea of exactly how much snow there was there... it was up to my rib cage or so.
