High-tech bathrooms of Germany. It was an early morning today, which made me even happier that I had a good sleep last night. Breakfast was at 6:45 am. Soon after we were back on the coach on our way to Munich. St. Goar was very pretty, but there wasn’t much to do there, so it was nice to be off somewhere else. The drive seemed to take forever. We did this thing where everyone had to get up front on the mic and talk about themselves. It was cool listening to everyone else but I was terrified to talk about me. I have a public speaking problem, and I can get really shy. But it was over fast and it wasn’t that bad. At the service stop we ate at Burger King and then experienced the famous German bathrooms. You have to pay and get a ticket to enter the bathroom, and then you can use that ticket to get money off at the gift store. When you flush the toilet the seat automatically lifts up and gets cleaned for the next person. It is amazing!
When we arrived in Munich we got settled in our rooms at the hostel. I was rooming with

Candice and I in front of the Marienplatz. Melissa, Candice, and Adrien. This hostel had the weirdest room keys, which were hard to figure out but we eventually did. It was hard hanging out with these three girls, because they were all from South Africa and had these beautiful accents that made them sound so posh and proper. I felt like a slob with my Western Canadian drawl. After a while I started talking with this weird fake accent and saying all the words they say – “loo”, “shops”, “queue”, “toilet”, etc. It wasn’t even intentional. It was strange to think that I had an accent to them. After getting ready we all headed into the center of Munich.
We started at the Marienplatz, the main square of the city. This is where the famous Glockenspiel clock is situated. We had free time so Melissa, Candice, and I decided to do some shopping. The street was so clean and pretty, and all the stores were very nice. I ended up buying three tops from H&M, jeans, a purse, 3 rings, and some postcards. One thing we noticed was that all the guys in Munich are gorgeous 😊 We got some food from a bakery and I tried

Marienplatz Mezzo Mix, which is a mixture of orange fanta and Coke. It was actually quite good, and if I’m ever back in Germany I would definitely have it again. We ended up missing the Glockenspiel performance but I heard it is overrated so I wasn’t too disappointed.
After shopping, the entire tour drove over to our optional excursion for that evening: the German beerhall. I wasn’t that excited for this optional because I’m not a fan of beer, but it actually turned out to be a really great time. The dinner was really gross – pork knuckle, sauerkraut, and potato, but it was a cultural experience. The performers were incredible, especially their bell demonstration. I know a lot of the guys liked it 😉 I had a light beer, which didn’t taste alcoholic at all, more like lemonade. Because of this I didn’t get drunk like everyone else, but it was still fun. We all danced after dinner and sang along to the songs.
The ride home was super fun, as we had a dance party on the coach. Once we got back to the hostel we headed down to the bar there. Unfortunately, it was filled with

Beerhall! preteenagers, which is quite creepy for someone who comes from a country where you have to be 19 to enter a club. It is just wrong. We still stayed for a bit and danced. I went to bed at a decent time – I was so excited for Austria!
