Aint that cute?
AWWWWWWWWWWW so cute together...nothing like some travelling love Ok quick update. I was putting some pictures on here and I realized that I totaly skipped over Vienna on here! I was in Vienna before I went to Munich. Vienna was a pretty chilled out place. Basically spent 3 nights there and I have some pretty sketchy notes about it. One highlite of the whole trip in general was a bike riding tour that we did of the Wackau region of Vienna. Sounded like a good idea, get a bunch of people drunk on wine and let them bike around. What could go wrong there? Noting!! We headed out there early one morning and it was insanely enjoyable. Learned all about the history of wine, how it was made in the past, the history of the simpsons episode with the anti-freeze in the wine, how it is made now, and my favorite, how it tastes!
We went to 4 vineyards in total and had a good lunch and a game of beach volleyball in the rain thrown in there somewhere. Also went for a hike up this huge hill which may or may not have been such a good idea cause one of our drunks came down with a
Eating out?
Hmmm...nice table manners bleeding leg. Oh well it wasnt me so its all good! Ended up back at the hostel bar downstairs for happy hour and thats where the fun really began. On the bus ride back everyone got a free bottle of wine and I dont think a single one of us had that when we got back to the hostel. The night got more and more interesting till it ended up with an old school game of spin the bottle. What a night!
HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE!!!!
The website is still having some technical problems here and I cant resize my pictures on this computer so I thought I would still have to write a quick note regarding Canada Day! It was really strange to be overseas for Canada Day! I was severely homesick when I woke up yesterday morning but that quickly passed when I met up with Kristen over breakfast. She is from Toronto and pretty much all day me and her were hunting around Munich for a full size Canadian flag but since they didnt make the World Cup there is no such thing as Canada in Germany right now. I kept running into people today
Good people
Good people just make the trip great! that had the flags on their packs so I had to make sure I went out of my way to meet them and wish them all a Happy Canada day! We all went out to Dachau yesterday morning minus Lee and Travis, they are just too cool for us. Its just not going to be the same! Lee, who is going to get drunk and smash everyones beer you prick! And Travis, who else will love the Moosies work?
I have been pretty good at being upbeat and positive about this whole trip but after spending 3 hours at a concentration camp and seeing the gas chambers and the crematoriams its really hard to put a positive spin on that. It is absoloutly mindblowing the things that happened there. I wont really go into any of the details but for anyone that is interested I would HIGHLY recommend hitting up the library and getting a book on the subject or just doing a google search on Dachau Concentration Camp. We were all happy and cheerful on our way out there but it was hard to speak after that. As hard as everyone tried to just brush it off there
Fosters my ass!!
So it turns out that nobody in Australia drinks Fosters...the VB Stubbies are where its at down under! are some things that after you have read or seen you just cant forget. They have an audio gide that has quotes from the actual survivors and some of their stories will haunt me till the day I die.
On a somewhat lighter note we headed off from there to the Fan Fest in Olympic Park. It is basically a huge area where they have set up a MASSIVE outdoor tv and there were thousands of people kicking back and watching the match, not a bad way to spend an afternoon if you ask me. Now that Australia is out of the tournament I had to start cheering for England, please dont hate me any of my Scottish friends, but Owen Hargreaves is from my hometown, not to mention they are the only team that was left that spoke English. Before the match a buddy of mine Stu was telling me how England has a horrible history of getting knocked out of World Cups because of penalty kicks. Well this match proved to be no different. It started off with Portugal dominating but then the tide quickly turned in Englands favour but still ending at the half with a

Google image search his name and see the rest of his creations. score of 0-0. The English fans were really getting into it untill David Beckham was replaced due to injury in the 52nd minute. The fans were affected but still behind their team singing God Save the Queen and England Till I Die till the 62nd minute when English striker Wayne Rooney was given a red card due to a rather questionable call by the referee. That very quickly took the wind out of the sails of the fans in Munich but the team kept on with some amazing play by the rest of the team. The managed to get out of the regulation 90 minutes with the score locked at nil. After regulation there are two 15 minute overtime periods played followed by the dreaded penalty kicks which was the last thing on earth that any of the English fans wanted. It is the most exciting way to win but the most heartbreaking way to lose and with Englands history with World Cup penalty kicks, if the match lasted another 30 minutes it was a sure loss. 30 minutes passed without a goal and the Portugeese keeper Ricardo was just too quick and too strong for Englands strikers, stopping 3
Little Mikka and the Wine Tour
Sounds like the name of a childrens book...but as you will see from the pictures there isnt much that is G rated here. of their 4 attempts and with their 4th shot Cristiano Ronaldo brought tears to the eyes of millions of England supporters, man, woman, and child.
Back to the hostel bar to drown our sorrows in beer and quickly ran into about 15-20 other Canadians! I was planning a nice quiet night but with so many maple leafs out on display there was no way that was going to happen. About ever half an hour or so we would all break out into a chorus of Oh Canada and it was the best way to spend a Canada day. By the end of the night we actually had some Americans and Australians singing along! Thats what I like about being Canadian, everyone loves us and no matter where you are all it takes is a maple leaf and you have found a new best friend!
Well it looks like I am just about out of stuff to write about so its off to go plan the next couple of weeks of my trip! Catch you all later and I hope that everyone is doing well.
