Woke to the old german couple waking us for breakfast at 8:30 am. We were both a big hung-over and I was still angry about the camera but not much I could do at this point I suppose. We had breakfast which consisted of rolls and various deli meats along with a cup of coffee and a hard boiled egg. Not the most extravagant of breakfasts but food all the same. After eating we stashed out backpacks along the side of the bed and breakfast and headed off to do a bit of hiking. We took a bus to the olypmic stadium stop and started walking to the right as we were directed by kim. Turns out we were supposed to follow the stadium however, rather than continue going right (girls and directions?!?). It ended up being a good move though because we got to walk through some beautiful open meadows right under the mountains with little huts used for storing wheat. It seemed a very authentic european alps experience and was very refreshing after the night of drinking. After walking about a half hour in the wrong direction we asked a few people and managed to get a rough
idea that we should turn around and head back to the ski stadium. After another half hour we arrived at the stadium and noticed the road we missed. The road was a further 20 minute hike to the gorge entrance which unfortunately cost 2 euro for addmittance. We paid and headed up into the gorge. The gorge was simply amazing. It was likely one of the most beautiful things I have seen on this trip. There was an extremely fast flowing aqua colored river flowing through the gorge with steep walls rising maybe 100 feet or more on each side. The path was actually cut into the side of the rock on one side and in itself was extremely sweet looking. There was water falling all along the walls of the gorge and the sun was shining extremely brightly which lit everything in an incredible contrast of light and dark within the gorge. It is difficult to explain properly with the short amount of time I have to write this log but was completely stunning. After the gorge we met kim for a quick meal said farewell. We then jumped on a train back to munich and grabbed a hostel
in the same area that we had stayed before. heading over to a place called the english gardens. It was actually pretty mind blowing how many people were in the park (thousands). It was a really nice sunny day and apparently everyone under 30 comes to the park to swim in the river that flows through it. The river moved very quickly and people hopped in near the top to fly down stream and do it all over again. There were also people relaxing all over in the grass etc enjoying the day. The park also had a few odd points to it which were unlike any other public park I had visited in the past. First at the start of the river just as it enters the park boundary there was a large bridge with two large arches allowing the water to pass through. Just past the bridge the odd part came in that there was a huge wave being created constantly from what I wasnt sure. People lined up along this wave with surfboards in hand and took turns riding it until they fell or were unable to stay ontop. They were then carried a bit downstream to
get back in line. Another oddity about the park is that there was a large grass section that forms a sort of island where people naturalists sunbath completely nude. It was mostly filled with naked old men but there were also a few older and younger women. We walked across the island on the way back out of the park and actually saw a naked couple nearly getting it on with heaps of people around as well as a nude women that was probably at least 250 pounds. Quite the experience but the park had an extremely cool atmosphere. After walking the park for a while we headed to the famous hofbrauhaus beerhall for a bit of beer and sausages. The place was huge and everything they served was delicious. We met a few young austrian guys sitting by us and got a bit of info about the nightlife and where to go that night. After enjoying our delicious meal and beer we headed home for a shower and to prepare for another night out. We chilled for a bit and then headed down to the bar for a few drinks where we met with the scottish guys and girls
we had met in budapest. Somehow Aarons camera was stolen during the night from his pocket which completely sucks because the picks he took from the gorge and garmisch were lost along with a few others. We laid low in the hostel for the evening and fell asleep eventually quite late.
