Hello All!

Ive been slacking greatly with the travelblog. I do apologize.....

Nick and I have made numerous trips out and about town to check out the sites. I will post pics and try to put the story with the pics......

To start...one of my favorite views and places to walk is the Schlossplatz. It's size is remarkable and even in winter is beautiful. Almost all the pictures I have seen of the square in the spring/summer time. Green grass, flowers, people sitting at tables. Now in these winter photos of mine it won't be quite as green but still a site to see. Now in the centre is a tall slender Jubilee Column that was donated by the Estates in 1841. Their are also two identical cup fountains on each side of the column with water spouting lion heads. Behind these is the amazing view of the New Palace. Parts of this building date back to 1746. After the second world war all parts were restored back to their original condition. Opposite the New Palace is the Konigsbau. It features 34 Ionic Columns and resembles a Greek temple. Nearby is The Arts Museum. It looks like a large glass cube. All windows. It's modern looks almost dont blend with the older more historical surroundings.

Some other interesting sights nearby are The Old Palace and Wurttemberg Landesmuseum. This place has history dating back to the 10th century. Also in the middle of the 19th century an equestrian statue was added to it, showing Count Eberhard the Bearded, the first duke of Wurttemberg and founder of the Univ of Tubingen. There is a museum here but we have not visited that part just yet.

I have also included some other photos of areas near the Schlossplatz. I will do seperate blogs for the TV Tower and Indoor Market.

*Just a note...These photos were taken on different days which is why some have snow, some dont, and in some xmas markets are still up. Also the educationl info is from the Stuttgart City Guide 2006
