Had a wonderful time in Geneva today before heading to Chamonix, Franc. After breakfast I had about an hour before my scheduled City tour so thought I would walk around for a while. When I did go and check in for the tour I was told that another part of the tour was cancelled due to the triathlon so I cancelled and went and watched the junior ladies compete in the triathlon. Was so impressed with the speed the ladies had transitioning from swimming to biking and biking to running. A gal from Germany won the junior ladies division and she was totally awesome to watch. Wouldn't you know it, my camera's battery decided it was time to die and of course I left the backup battery back at the hotel in my suitcase. So no pictures from the sites I saw today in Geneva instead you will see pictures from the ride to Chamonix, France and a few taken from the balcony of my room and around town of Mont Blanc (Only if I can get them to load). Before I left Geneva I did get a chance to walk to old Geneva which was very interesting. After walking around
for about 4 hours I was getting a little thirsty so I came across a cute little place called Spaghetti Works where I sat outside at a table and had a very refreshing Sangria. I guess I have to confess as they were so good I just had to have another one. After getting hydrated I was up to walking some more so spent about another hour and half looking at various sites. About 3 pm decided it was time to gather my bag and backpack and head to the train station so I could find the company that I had booked my transfer through to take me to Chamonix, France. Since I was early for my transfer, I sat down and decided I would start reading the book "Wild". As I was reading the part in the book where she was trying to get all the stuff she had purchased for the PCT trail into her backpack, I looked at my bag and backpack and couldn't help laughing to myself thinking "I must look like her" with what I have. The first pictures you will see where taken through the window of the van as we drove to Chamonix.
There were four young people from Sweden in the van that in talking with them they said they along with about another 10-12 other people were going to spend a week running up and down Mont Blanc - glad it's them not me! The location of my hotel is great as it is right in the middle of town and close to everything. There is an international rock wall climbing competition going on today and still tonight as I am writing this post. I can stand on my balcony and watch the competition. I did go down and watched it for a little while - very interesting and lots of people. Tomorrow I will spend walking around Chamonix checking out the town and looking at Mont Blan which is so amazing.
