We got up early and followed the pleasant half our walk by a small river into the centre of Chartres where we admired the magnificent 13th century stained glass in the cathedral. It was interesting to note that there appears to be a programme of internal refurbishment to paint the stonework white as it would have been when it was first built.

The remainder of the day was used in driving the 300k the north coast in dreadful weather. For the first time on the trip we used the French toll motorways. We stayed on a convenient camp site car park just beyond Boulogne.
