Lost in Loire!

Egg # 2

Hi all - very short update from us today. We are in an internet cafe in Orleans and the keyboard is jumbled so naturally its going to take me ten years to type anything (Im bad enough under normal conditions!).

Anyway - been en France for the last 5 days. We drove (Alan drove) down to Blois which is on the river Loire and we found a little campsite just below the main town. Its fine in terms of facilities, but ultra cheap at only 8 € a day. The weather has been amazing until today when it started chucking it down at 4am. Its not bad now which is typical as we are indoors. Merde! Went to Chambord Chateau on Wed and yesterday did a ten mile hike. Yes I did sleep well last night thankyou VERY much.

Had the best meal for ages in Blois the other night - Main was the tenderest pork mignon ever, and an excellent fish / potato salad starter which I'd like to share with you as it was SO fab;

INGREDIENTS
Potato chunks bolied and cooled
Smoked fish chunks - best if soft like smoked herring
Red onion sauted then cooled
Whole grain mustard
Green salad leaves
French viniagrette

METHOD
Mix first four things together, then plonk on top of the salad leaves. Douse in viniagrette. Eat.

Absolutely brilliant - please try and let me know what you think.

Not sure where we are off to next - just about to look up BBC website to find out where is going to be warm, so you'll have to wait and see.

Sorry no photos yet - we cant get the car charger to work and the camera has died. Will likely stay in a hotel tomorrow so can charge then and add something interesting for your perusal.

Hi both, usual dull stuff here, France sounds good. Bit excitement Mon< Malc carted off to hosp on methadone with back totally siezed up! Back home now but laid up in bed. look fwd to photos...oh just remembered Alistair nearly drowned @ white water rafting/team building! all aok now....so not dull at all! C
