For instance, how do you keep your 6 year old son or daughter entertained on a family holiday? The answer to that question lies in your choice of family destinations.
France is a huge and famous country with so much more to offer. This is probably the main reason why so many families flock this country all-round the year. It can be quite difficult to choose from the many sites and family activities. For this reason, I have come up with notable family destinations in France that offer a bucket full of various family oriented activities. Keep reading and discover how your entire family will have the most memorable
holiday in France ever.
The French Alps
Whether its summer or winter, the French Alps will never miss out on the list of the best destinations for families. In the summer, there are
lots of activities to do here. You can take the family on a guided white water rafting and get to experience the thrill of the alpine rivers. This activity is suitable for the whole family including children above the age of eight years. Another fun activity is usually the mountain biking. The whole family can ride their bikes down the mountain as they interact with other tourists. Other summer activities include kayaking, canyoning and rock climbing.
In winter, people mostly go for skiing, climbing ice, snowshoeing and husky sledding. There is also the famous night in one of the winter refuges in the Alps. The French Alps are bound to make your family vacation more adventurous than you ever imagined.
Languedoc and the Cote d’Azur in southern France
Cote d’Azur has all the fun activities that will leave the whole family enchanted. Starting with the scented purple lavender fields, the magnificent sea and great resorts, southern France is definitely a place to behold. If the family loves outdoor activities, then this is the right destination. Some of the water sport activities in the Mediterranean Sea include kayaking, jet skiing, diving, swimming, surfing and snorkeling. Furthermore, Cote d’Azur is
home to some ancient villages. For a more relaxed feel, you can get rented bicycles and ride along the streets in Luberon.
Languedoc is one of those places where you make lifelong family memories. Take your kids to the Siegen African safari park where they get to see wild animals such as lions, elephants, cheetahs and chimpanzees. Both children and adults alike will love this park. Visiting an aquarium may be a nice way for everyone to get up-close with marine life. The largest aquarium in the area is Montpellier aquarium.
Ardeche gorge
Ardeche gorge is a popular family destination and this is for a good reason. People will never run out of family activities here. An active adventure starts with canoeing down the tranquil ardeche river. You can then proceed to take a tour in one of the caves in this area. Inside the caves, you will find stalagmites, stalactites and many other types of scenery. Make sure to carry a camera with you and capture every moment.
Well, one site in the ardeche gorge that cannot be left out of the list is the Pont d’arc. It’s a wide bridge of about 60 meters with an arch bending above the Ardeche River. It’s a relaxing destination and conducive for swimming, sunbathing and kayaking. Ardeche gorge has many more sites for you to explore and make beautiful memories with your family.
Normandy
If the family holiday is all about adventure and stepping out of the comfort zone, then Normandy is a perfect destination in France. Not to mention the rock cliffs, gorgeous beaches, awe inspiring historical sites and a rich culture. There is no better way to have magnificent views of the Normandy landscape than in a hot air balloon. Yes, you heard me right. The family can ride a hot air balloon as they have stunning views of the landscape beneath.
The woody park is the best place for a family day out. As a matter of fact, the children will not want to leave this place at the end of the day. The children can play all day long here and not get bored. Moreover, some games also include adults and this makes it a perfect opportunity for the family to bond. The main activities include treetop games, treasure hunt, mini golf and sumo wrestling.
At times, we all want to a little bit of peace and tranquility. This makes le parc a good destination for the family to connect with nature. There are nature trails where you can cycle or walk, cliffs and wildlife.
Pyrenees
Pyrenees is one of the most beautiful family destinations in France. Any site that you visit will be packed with multiple activities and thrilling adventures. I would say that one enchanting place you should consider visiting with your family is the village of Bareges. It is an ideal location with roaring rivers, caves and crags. Common activities include rock climbing, white water rafting, mountain walking and paragliding.
There are plenty of marvelous caves in Pyrenees. Peche-Merle houses many cave formations and even some prehistoric cave art. It is a nice way to get back in history. The best of all may be the Gouffre de Padirac underground river. It is truly a magical and fascinating site. The entire family can take a boat ride and go on a one hour tour.
These are just but a few among the many family destinations in France. When planning a family vacation, consider one of the destinations I have mentioned above. After all, family vacations are supposed to be fun and exciting for all regardless of age.
