Edit Blog Post
Hello all. Well Wilcox has finally entrusted me to write one of these blog thingys so here goes....
After reading Sarah's last blog i feel it necessary to inform you all that although I slept through breakfast after a night on the booze with a friend from home (Redford), leaving Sarah to do all of breakfast, she got her own back in spectacular fashion on new year's day. Not only did she sleep through breakfast but in a cruel and bitter twist slept til 11 o clock leaving yours truely to do the lion's share of the work that morning-i s'pose i've got one in the bank now for the next time i feel like lieing in. Now i've got that rant out of the way,i can continue with season stuff........
Firstly, calm has been restored in the chalet after our favourite Australian has sadly left last Friday (he was getting the boot on Sunday anyway). Good riddance I say. Nick-if you're reading then i wish you all the best in your new job and hope you don't contract a nasty illness or anything! The atmosphere is so much better now and we're enjoying the much more jovial atmosphere in
Me with last week's guests
The blonde one is a lady-and i mean an actual lady married to a knight-wow!and she's hot-great! the kitchen. Fingers crossed for a good replacement!
Snow has finally hit and i don't mean a bit of snow-shit loads of the stuff has fallen over the last week or so-i've never known anything like it. Last week we were joined by a big group of boozy 30 somethings who certainly knew how to drink and ski extremely hard, thus making for an interesting week. After 2-3 days of solid blizzarding, crystal clear skies were restored on Wednesday, which just happens to be our day off-que best day's skiing in the world ever. Myself and Chris went off with a few of the guests, one of whom (Ben) used to be an off piste ski guide. We ended up trecking up the side of some mountain for 20 mins or so before buggering off down a couloir on the other side of it in thigh high powder. Yes i lost my glasses in the process but the truely amazing conditions more than made up for it. Close to the bottom of this particular run,one had to get up quite a bit of speed in order to make it out of the place-In a rather comedic moment,i ran parallel over
Me in a big weird hole in the rock
Myself and Chris taking a badly deserved break from skiing. The baguettes we construct for such an occasion are amongst the best in the world-the all important ingredients are ketchup and mustard=a taste sensation. a rock, which resulted in the skis stopping and my good self being flung out of my bindings head first into a huge pile of powder (Lucky it wasn't a rock otherwise i wouldn't be as pretty as we all know i am!). It was rather unnerving to learn that a few days later when Ben was skiing the same off piste run, a couple of pisteurs (official ski people) were wiped off the slope by a huge avalanche only a hundred or so metres away from him!According to Ben,if you're uncovered within 7 mins of being buried, you have a 95% chance of survival, however if found a mere 3 mins later this chance drops to 15%-scary stuff!
The evenings with last week's guests were a lot of fun-I seem to remember Chris crowd surfing in the Morris Bar at one point which was rather amusing. Quite a few of them were involved in television-directors,editors and the like-i'm not sure if an outgoing centre of attention personality is a pre requisite of the profession but they all seemed to have those qualities that make dinner time and the pub highly amusing. On one of the chair lifts, a woman had to tell them to shut up due to the inappropriate nature of their conversation!Brilliant!
The new and improved conditions has resulted in Wilcox improving no end.She can now put a ski on without falling over!only joking-she has seriously come on quite a bit and is now all set to try out this seasons Rossignol skis which she got yesterday, which are covered in pink flowers-we keep giving the ski hire place cakes so we can get better gear-seems to be working just fine.
Righto-must shoot.Until next time folks......

Off piste, 'arf piste
Mum and I would prefer it if you didn't kill yourself descending steep couloirs on new snow which has not frozen to it's base, and to avoid hidden rocks which may be detrimental to your complexion. We would also appreciate it if you would moderate your addiction to cuddling toilet bowls -you can have a good time without this sort of thing. Try and borrow one of those little avalanche locators - just a thought. Glad to see that Sarah is still putting up with you and hasn't sent you packing together with the arsi Aussi. Looking forward to Feb.
