This tree was sprouting roots along the old Roman water ditch. Wendy and I were fascinated...
JULY 2, 2014 -Vaison-la-Romaine - Today we ventured back to the beautiful town that we had passed through a couple times this week. Vaison was developed ( I don’t say founded, because of all the pre-Roman artifacts located) by the Romans, and is still an ongoing archeological site. We toured the town with audio guides and walked all over. There were two major sites to view, along with the museum, which had a wonderful tile floor in it. My muse was egging me on to take pics so I could make a quilt. She has been very busy visiting since I have been back in France and the juices are flowing again.
Right around lunch we started walking across the river to the medieval city, stopping for lunch at Les Terrasses du Beffroi. It was very hot, and luckily salads were the menu so Wendy had a Salade Bergere with Chevre chaud, beans and walnuts, while I had an Assiette de Charcuterie, loaded with lots of things to make me really thirsty about an hour later. And since we can’t pass up dessert, we each had massive sundaes. We walked it off by going around the haute ville. The town was wonderful

The Main Roman Shopping Street - seems we can't get away from it.
and well worth a visit if you are in the Vaucluse. http://www.beyond.fr/villages/vaison-la-romaine.html
Oh, and did I mention more shopping??

July 4, 2014 - Wendy needed to do a little shopping on our last day in the Vaucluse, so we were off to Aix-en-Provence to meet with friends of Kevin and mine from previous trips. It was my first time driving in a BIG city, and I don't know what all the fuss is about. We got around just fine with our GPS app on my Ipad. We went to a restaurant called Le Millefeuille, http://www.le-millefeuille.fr/ and had a lovely meal with our friends. Each item was a wonderful taste delight, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Since tomorrow we are taking off to Bordeaux, we are busy trying to reorganize our bags….this could be interesting…..Next stop - BORDEAUX!!!!!!
