The Beautiful French Riviera
AAAhhh Nice. I think one of the most beautiful places I've seen so far. I could have stayed here for a month. Although the start wasn't so great... The night train experience. Imagine, 6 bunks and a room that is 7ft wide by 7ft long and about 8ft tall = screaming headache in the morning. I was unable to appreciate the scorching sunlight of 8am. We cheded innto our kick ass hostel and I decided immediately that I wanted to stay more than 2 nights (it didn't hurt that all the hottie European men seem to be hiding in Nice!!). I had a quick nap to refuel, then it was off to see the beautiful water of the Mediterranean (Lindley's Birthday too). We walked along the promenade, looking at the scenery and the expensive yachts (and deck hands...). We took the bus to Ville Franche, which is a small fishing village. Here we took a quick dip in the water, and went for a fabulous French meal in a little restaurant serving up authentic French cuisine.

The next day it was off to MonteCarlo, Monacco. Money money money and more money. Not ours of course! We saw the Casino, the

Lindley's birthday at the beach, it doesn't get any better than this!
Prince's palace and the Cathedral that Grace Kelly is burried in. MonteCarlo is a crazy small city. Its about 3km wide by 300m long, and has a population of 35,000 people! All the high rises in Europe have been strategically located in MonteCarlo! It was hard to believe, but the yachts here were even larger than in Nice!

A well deserved beach day was to follow, where we swam in the crystal clear blue water, out to a neat little cave, very cool. After returning to the hostel, we decided we needed to hit the town in this city, so we drank some cheap beer at the hostel, and hit the streets with an American guy, and some girls studying French in the area. We found a fun travellers bar in the old town with a French band playing English Music - too funny. These guys were all too keen to take off their shirts and show off their flabby bellies. But they played some good dancing tunes, so all was forgiven. The highlight being when they sang Lenny Kravitz "I want to get away", without knowing any lyrics but the chorus, and filling in the blanks with blah,

I wish... Can you believe the amount of money displayed here, gross!
blah, blah. It was the perfect end to a perfect visit...
