Not sure what to say about Nice. Really one evening leaves little time to explore the city nevermind the likes of Monaco a short train ride away.

We arrived in Nice mid afternoon, located the closest hostel before heading straight out. The beach front was pleasant enough with a myriad of sun worshippers lounging on the pebble shore cocktails in hand, a disproportionate number being men lying rather close together, and a promenade running the length of the beach, well utilized by roller bladers whizzing by in luminescent lycra costumes. On closer inspection I thought the men seemed a bit leary who would ogle the elegant women strolling by. Oh well if you can't beat'em join'em!! There are also the usual restaurants, clubs and shops expected from a city with such a glamorous reputation. Add this together and you get hoards and hoards of tourists from every country imaginable. This begs the question, why do some countries produce immensely annoying citizens? Loud, obnoxious, self-opiniated b@?*&ds with no respect for the country they are visiting. Ok I am ranting now, but in my defence travelling Europe during the height of tourist season is rather testing.

city, great for a weekend break. I am afraid however for the budget traveller's like ourselves, the French Riviera doesn't quite work.
