Paris! One of the most traveled cities in the world, filled with light, shopping, food and fun. Filled with must see sites and must visit museums one can stay weeks without seeing everything that needs to be seen. I stayed for three days and know that I only saw a small portion of Paris and want to go back to see the rest of it!
Something that one must do while your in Paris is take a romantic boat cruise down the Seine River. You can see some beautiful sites while the whole city is lite up. At night you can see the Eiffel Tower sparkling (which in all honesty looks a bit tacky). The cruise is a wonderful introduction to a magical city.
The first museum that my group headed to is the world famous Louvre. I was stoked to head to the Louvre especailly because I am a huge "The Da Vinci Code" fan, in fact if you have the cash to spend you can actually going on a Dan Brown tour. Filled with thousands of pieces of works of paintings, drawings and sculptors. Of course you can't come to the Louvre without going to see the
Mona Lisa. My personal opinion about the Mona Lisa, a bit overrated but it still is a must see! By the end of the day you'll be exhausted and you will hardly put a dent into seeing all the works in the Louvre.
After the Louvre we headed to the Musee d'Orsay. This museum was created in 1986 to showcase the artistic creations of the Western world between the years of 1848 to 1914. What you want to check out is the amazing impressionist works. Something a little unique to this museum is its collection of furniture and photography. Some of the more popular painters have works here including both Renoir and Monet.
Now in all honesty after three other countries filled with museums and now in Paris which is filled with museums I started to get tired of them, but we pushed forward and hit a few more of them. The Musee de Cluny, also know as the Musee National de Moyer Age, has a fascinating collection of tapestries, furniture and manuscripts. The last floor is pretty neat so you should check that out. It is fille dwith the remains of Roman baths which is neat to
check out. What was cool about this museum was that it wasn't always a museum. In fact it started out as a town house for an abbey.
Now for my personal favorite, the Musee Picasso. The museum contains more than 3000 works by Picasso ranging from sketches to paintings. Picasso isn't the only artist you'll find here. Picasso's own collection of Cezanne, Rousseau and more can also be found. The museum is filled with interesting works throughout the years of Picasso's life. He is definitely an interesting artist filled with weird drawings but it certainly was my favorite.
