I can't imagine what it would be like to be on the beaches of Normandy or go to the American Cemetery. I didn't realize that it's actually American soil. The first and I think last scenes of Saving Private Ryan take place (and I believe were filmed) there. If you have time, a curious political science major wants to know why Kennedy wanted to punish France. I don't remember learning that in APUSH.

memories
Hi Val, Grandpa and I also visited Normandy, the cemetery and the museum but had an English speaking guide. She made it clear that she did not care much for Americans but was civil to us. Love, Grandma

History lesson
No history lesson is better than a field trip! It sounds like your trip was great, despite having to get up practically in the middle of the night to get to Normandy. Sounds like this was the perfect time to take your body blanket along!
