Just skip it. For those in for he long hall I will try to recount as closely as possible so that you feel as if you are along with us.
Thursday/Friday July 17/18.
Day 1 and 2 . Longest day ever recorded. bonjour! It's finally here. The Harris family European vacation has begun. Alarm set for 2:45 a.m. -up at 2:15. Just a bit excited. Everyone packed and ready to go. Out the door at 3:30 a.m. 405 still under construction near the 605 so had to re-route to 5 to 91 yo 605 to 105. But still. Made it in decent time to airport parking (4:40) parked at quick park which has moved again (3 times in 4 years). At united for check in by 5:00. We checked in 1 bag and then took 3 on with us. Board plane by 6:00 depart 6:30 (on time) but taxi for 30 minutes before depart. Uneventful 1st leg of trip to Newark (I'm ok with that- but no food and no movie/tv. I guess united is cutting back for domestic flights. Deplane in Newark and have a 3 hour layover. We have some lunch at a deli just missing Nathan's hot dog stand (Nathan's in New Jersey ! Darn, well we will try catch it on the way home) load up plane at 6:30 eastern time. Big 777plane. No business or first place but we did have bulk head. Six hour flight that seemed longer but at least food and movies. Arrive in Paris at7:00 a.m. Through customs where the police checking passports were bored, aloof' and borderline rude. (It is definitely a French thing) picked up by super shuttle. Went pretty smooth. Drive into town took about 40 minutes due to morning traffic. Arrive at our small, quaint , charming hotel. -leRuisseau. It is not directly in heart of tourist area but, we liked the quieter not so busy crowded atmosphere. And the price is right!! The other benefit is that the Metro (subway system ) is very near. We are feeling a little tired but need to keep moving. No going to bed too early. We all take showers and feel a little better. We now head outgo find a bite to eat. Have our first cafe meal just down the road.
