Dome des Invalides Today the Hotel National des Invalides is on our program. In 1670 Louis 14 decided that it was time that his armees had a specific place to live. In 1674 the first soldier moved in. It was a complete Militaiury town. The Militairy Hospital on site is still operational. Under the Dome, the remains of Napoleon were placed, which were returned of the island of St Helena. Around the Sarcophasus are twelve victory statues depicting the twelve victories of Bonaparte. Around the tomb the chapels houses the graves of his son the King of Rome and of this two brothers Joseph and Jerome. Around the court yard is a battery of bronze cannons, they traced the history of so two hundred years. The Museum holds a wealth of Militairy history, with suits of armour, al sorts of arms and Sabres from the middle ages till the 20th century. A cafe is on side and must be the bussiest in Paris. We did not take the car but went by bus to the Opera House, and walked from there to the Invalides. Pity the Opera House was being used and was closed for visits. On the return we walked all the way

main gate back to the Hotel. The Receptionist called us insane and our feet did agree. We went again to the same Restaurant for tea, tomorrow a big day. Pick up the car and of to Reims, to see the Cathedral. Bye for now Liz & Allan.
